Lately I've been using a slower sensitivity. Usually 3 or 4 does the trick (3 is the default). On some games (e.g. shotty snipers on Valhalla), I'll drop it down to 2.

The 360 controller sucks. The thumbsticks are shorter than on the regular xbox wich makes precise movements harder. It's quite easy to switch thumbsticks with an original controller though if you just unscrew it. This have made wonders for my game.
