The people comparing the McGahee trade to Schaub must play fantasy or Madden or some shit. A QB with even a glimmer of a chance at being a decent franchise QB is worth way more in the modern NFL than any RB who isn't just downright special (AP, LT in his prime, etc). RB and QB are like the polar opposite when it comes to trade value. Aside from the obvious fact that they're just plain more valuable to an offense without considering market conditions, there's the fact that there are almost twice as many starting QB positions in the NFL as there are starting-caliber QBs. Conversely there are easily twice as many serviceable RBs in the NFL as there are RB positions.

No joke, I'd be interested to see who would get more on the trade market (barring contracts and the fact that the Eagles have no interest in trading either of them): Foles or McCoy. We can't know for sure, obviously, but I wouldn't be surprised if some barely-at-all-proven-to-be-serviceable young quarterback demands as much as the second best RB in the NFL.
