Default Need Help with TV Settings

    New TV is here!!!!!

Amazon.com: VIZIO Class XVT Series TruLED XVT472SV 47-Inch 240 Hz sps LCD HDTV… is the one I ended up getting.

The PS3 looks amazing. Guys in modern warfare are so clear. I get eyeball shots instead of headshots.

Bad beat: Verizon Fios hdtv is fuzzy and overall unimpressive. I've googled a little bit and talked to a instore verizon salesmen. He gave me an HDMI cable saying never to buy one anywhere else. Gave me some advice on settings but I'm still not impressed. Before I start calling FIOS and writing FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU can people give me some pointers to try before dealing with support?

LOL @ never buying an HDMI cable anywhere else. All HDMI cables are created equal; digital signal is digital signal is digital signal. And um, I dunno. Perhaps you're using the wrong channels?
That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

Nah, it's a little better now. I messed with some of the setting. I think I had very high expectations for the hdtv because of the TV I bought. It's pretty nice now.

Well, no. There are a number of HDMI versions that they do or do not support (1.0-1.4), all with different available bandwidth and features. The older piece of crap cables didn't for example reliably work with 1080p, only with 720p and the problems are accentuated the longer the cable is. Digital signal can have errors and the laws of conductivity, resistivity and attenuation still apply.

    When noobs buy a tv..

Ok j/k, it's always a bit of a hassle to get it working properly and the way you want. Seems like you fixed it pretty quickly.

I had a setting on my cable box after I moved that defaulted to like 240p or something real shitty looking-- I'd def take a look at your box settings if you haven't yet

Box settings are at 720P. I'm thinking something is wrong with the coaxial cables, the box, or the box in the closet.

Coax from wall box to set top box. HDMi from set top box to tv.
