It reminded me of a J J Abrams quote which I will paraphrase and generally butcher. Something like:
I have a box on a shelf in my office with a question mark on it and I have no idea what's inside. I know something is it there, but I bought it in this state and I haven't opened it. As long as it's closed, I can imagine what could be in the box. I can wonder and dream and let my mind wander over the hypothetical contents.
Here's the thing... The reality is that opening the box can only be a disappointment. Nothing in the box can compare to my imagination and wonder over the potential contents.
The point of the show "Lost" was to put that box on everyone's shelf. It's a box with unknown contents. The primary rule is that you never open the box.

Does this describe Stranger Things?
If so, I'll give it a pass, if not, I'll watch another episode and decide again.
I figured you would like it. It has a Stand By Me feel or something.
It'll for sure be my favorite new show of the year.
