New TV Shows. Anything Worthwhile?

I'm 4 episodes into Stranger Things, and I'm impressed.

The sheriff is so well written. The guy playing him is doing excellent, but the writing is so strong it's hard to credit the actor too much.

Winona Ryder has never been less sexy, but her acting is top notch. It's nice to see that I didn't merely have a crush on her, but that she is actually great at her craft.

The high-school boyfriend type is way too considerate for a sexually active teen, IMO.

Making a high-school sexual relationship a centerpiece of the show is in poor taste, I think. Those kids are presumably meant to be under 18, since high school, and forcing the audience to imagine an underage couple getting it on is a major turn-off for the series. Seems like they could have chosen any other route to inject sexuality into the show (not that that's even remotely necessary in this kind of story).


And... opening the show with a D&D scene, and then removing the game from the plotline is bugging me.

Boy do I have a movie recommendation for you: It's called "Kids", it came out a few decades ago, and as the title and the title font implies, there is nothing in the movie that will offend your perfectly sensible sensibilities.
