Default The Offical Predict the Playoffs Thread

Predict the playoffs and win an e-prize! My signature for your personal use for 1 month!

My guess would be (Picks in bold)

    AFC
    Wild Card

The Pittsburgh Steelers at Dey Bengals
    and
    The Jags at The Pattatas

That week before the Championship Game

The Pittsburgh Steelers at the Colts
    and
    The Pattatas at the Broncos

    AFC Championship Game

    The Pattatas at the Colts

I really think that my AFC picks are standard. Toughest pick was the Broncos Pats game becuase it's hard to tell how well they'll match up in the second season.

    NFC

    Wild Card

    Carolina at The G-Men
    and
    Washington at Tampa Bay

    2nd week

    Carolina at Seattle
    and
    Tampa Bay at Da Bears

    NFC Championship

    Da Bears at Seattle

    Superbowl XL

    Colts

After winning the game a taller Peyton Manning will remove his helmet and expose himself as Big Ben Roethlisberger. The rest of the fake-colts will reveal themselves as the warriors from Steeltown and the Lombardi Trophy will ride off into the sunset on the lap of The Bus Jerome Bettis... who will be driving a Escalade. Then I'll wake up and hope that next year will be the one.

i agree with ya bud. Its all pretty standard, even the NFC. I'll say the Bears will win the superbowl just to argue and have the chance to use your sig for a month.

    Yeah, I can't disagree either.

    But I will for fun.

    Cincinatti
    Boston

    Indianapolis
    Denver

    Indianapolis

    Charlotte
    DC

    Seattle
    Chicago

    Seattle

    Indianapolis

So... no chance in hell... but if it happens I get to claim I knew it the whole time.
(and no one will copy me)

Heres how it will go down

    AFC
    Steelers and Pats advance
Then the Cots and Broncos win
Colts defeat the broncos and earn their super bowl berth

    NFC

injuries kill washington and NY as Carolina and TB advance
seattle wins and so do the Buc's
Seattle easily outplays the bucs behind the league MVP Mr. Alexander and a week performance from Simms Jr.

Colts handle the seahawks in a high scoring superbowl... 42-31

    I like

    Pittsburgh (cincy having some problems)
    NE (rounding into form)

Colts beat Pittsburgh in a much tighter game than the first one
(at which point 'rilla owes me a beer )
    Denver over NE (Broncs underrated)

Colts pwn Denver (as they have the last two postseasons--Manning just seems to eat them alive at home). If it was at Mile High, I might have gone the other way.

    NFC--

    Carolina and TB advance
    Chicago and Seattle advance
Chicago beats Seattle with that great defense and an offense that will come around with Grossman at the helm.

Super Bowl--Colts win a low scoring game, say 16-7. Chicago will be tough in the red zone

Then 'Rilla will have to change his avatar to a Manning avatar!!

I guess I'm not competing for the official 'Rilla sig, since yall posted ur picks before this week's games.
But I think some of ya have been drinking Da Bears Kool Aid.
    So, sane picks will follow:

    Seattle > Wash
    Carolina > Da Bears

    Indy > Pitt
    Denver > Pats
    -------------------
    Carolina > Seattle
    Indy > Denver

Indy > Carolina in the Super Bowl many predicted pre-season.

Panthers showed me a lot against the Giants. D: If they can stop Tiki, they can stop Jones, even if the Bears O-line is better.
O: Last time they played Chi, they didn't establish the run and played into the Bear's defensive strengths, allowing them to get the big plays they needed to win. If they run anywhere near to what they did against NY, they win.
Then, they'll stop Alexander the same way.

    Pitt can't hang with Indy.
Denver too tough at home, esp against Pat's depleted pass D.

I would like to see Washington beat Seattle and Pitt beat Indy but I don't think either is happening. But I can dream.

This week, I think it'll go:

    Seahawks, Panthers, Colts, Patriots.
    aka wildwest15
They all know me as a small timer, but that's about to change.

    Seahawks, Panthers, Broncos, Colts.
You should never wave at people you don't know, cause what if they don't have a hand. They'll think you're cocky. "Look what I got motherfucker, this thing is useful, I'ma go pick somethin up."

    Meh... Stoopid Bengals got slaughtered.

I think I am still in the lead though

Why y'all got Charlotte beating Chi-town?

Going against my regular picks, I'm just gonna take the longshot weekend.

    Redskins, Bears, Steelers, Patriots.

I will go with Seattle, Chicago, Denver, and Indy. I have seen nothing that ways me from my original pick...yet...

New England might pull off the win, but Mile High is a tough place to play....

Never read any stickies or announcements
I didn't post (didn't even know this thread existed 'til now), but last week I picked NE, Stoolers, Panthers, and Buccs to win.

Here's mine for this week and the rest of the playoffs:

#4 NE at #2 DEN - Pats continue their impressive playoff unbeaten streak with everything continuing to come together. Defence gets key stops while Brady plays a very solid game on the other side. Well played by both sides. Vinatieri once again shows why he is the greatest clutch kicker in the game with a game-winning field goal. Pats 23-20 in OT.

#6 PIT at #1 IND - Cowher's boys are well coached and put on a respectable performance. The O-line opens up some nice holes for 'fast' Willie Parker but Ben Roethlisberger throws a couple key picks facing some impressive heat from Indy's front 4. Colts offense shakes some rust in the first half and opens it up a bit in the second. Steelers play a solid game but come up short to one of the best teams in recent memory. Indy 27-17.

#5 CAR at #2 CHI - A good defensive performance from both sides. Muhsin Muhammad has a good day against his former team but is the lone bright spot of the bears offense. Julius Peppers shows why he was touted as the NFL's best defensive player before the season started. CAR 10-7.

#6 WAS at #1 SEA - The well-rested Seahawks lay waste to the helpless Redskins. The NFL of the league, Shaun Alexander, adds 2 touchdowns to his record season en route to a 25 point Seattle victory. Perhaps the Joe Gibbs style of coaching is too far outdated? SEA 38-13.

    -----

#4 NE at #1 IND - The game that Indy has waited for all year, regardless of how much their players say otherwise. Pats put up a respectable fight, and for awhile look like they may pull it off, but the Colts juggernaut fires off 17 points in the third on their way to a shutout 4th quarter. Indy 34-20.

#5 CAR at #1 SEA - Seahawks jump off to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter in what looks to be a repeat of last week's game vs Washington. The Panthers fight valiently though, briefly taking a 14-13 lead early in the fourth. It turns out to be a battle of the running backs, with Fauster and Alexander both getting over 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Seahawks pull through in the end. SEA 26-21.

    -----
    Suberbowl:

#1 IND vs #1 SEA - A bit of a boring prediction, but also the most likely. Colts have a bit of a home-field advantage here being much closer to their home state and also playing on turf. The offensive machine of Manning-James-Harrison-Wayne-Clark-Stokely is in full sync and have little difficulty scoring. The Seahawks play well but never get a rhythm established. Alexander is held to 70 yards rushing and one touchdown. Indy 33-17.
