I like the decision to take it into half time, but why not give it to BJGE and let him grind a couple yards?

Ravens did the Pats a favor by not calling their 2 timeouts and forcing a punt from the endzone. It just takes a bad snap or a nice return and the Ravens could possibly get 2 or 3 points there.

I'd have rooted for either of today's losers over either of the winners. I really don't care who wins the super bowl at this point.

That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

What do Jets fans think of this Super Bowl matchup? beyond obviously hating it

I have been to New York a couple times and while sports weren't a common topic of conversation, I ran into some Jets fans. I spent most of my time in Queens and some in Manhattan so this makes sense. I have always kind of lumped Jets/Mets (and Nets?) together and Giants/Yankees (and Knicks?) together. Is this somewhat accurate?

Is there hostility between the NY franchises? I have always figured that with Yankees/Mets and Giants/Jets in different conferences, New Yorkers could pull for both teams even if they are predominantly a fan of only one. However, I have read that some Jets fans are pulling for the hated Patriots to win over the Giants. Wtf? Can anyone shed some light on this to a hopeless outsider and maybe cover the Yankees/Mets as well?

Also how does Rex Ryan factor into all of this? (Sorry for a bunch of seemingly random questions.)

I'm an Eagles fan who lives in New York.

There is not nearly the animosity between Giants and Jets fans that there is between Yankees-Mets fans.Since the Mets suck so bad, Mets fans are basically reduced to rooting for the Yankees and Phillies to fail.

Ryan has definitely pumped up the volume on the rivalry, which is kind of amusing because here you have some fat guy who makes foot fetish videos saying his New Jersey-based team who hasn't won in 44 years owns New York, not the other New Jersey-based team that has won 3 Super Bowls in 25 years and probably dominates in terms of fan base by 2.5-1.

I actually work with two guys who are Yankees-Jets fans. While this is not common, it's not unheard of. One of them is actually a Devils fan, too, which makes no sense but w/e.

I haven't heard of any Jets fans pulling for the Pats. As an Eagles fan, I rooted hard for the Giants in 2008 because I hate the Patriots almost as much and did not want them to go around toasting every year like the M'Fing '72 Dolphins. This year I have no real rooting interest either way, can't wait for baseball.

OK after seeing the Tom Brady special on ESPN where he starts tearing up over draft day, I'm going to have to root for the Giants again.

Thanks for the response. My roommate is actually a huge Mets fan and also pulls for the Giants. He doesn't like the Jets and I'm not sure what he thinks about the Yankees. He really hates the Phillies though, lol.

Anyway, about the actual game I have a feeling it's going to be a great Super Bowl. I'm going to stick with my pre-season prediction of Pats winning it but I wouldn't pick against Brady and Belichick anyway (well, maybe if the Packers or Saints were representing the NFC.)

Brady and Belichick is still a good-to-great QB-coach combo for the regular season IMO.

Tom Brady all class after another heartbreaking loss.

James Harrison and giant douche while sitting on his couch.

It was clear a lot of crying went on in the Pats' locker room. I'm a Colts fan and have a hard time feeling good about the game with all their obvious anguish in those post-game interviews.

It was a pretty amazing game.

There were about 3 really close passes by Brady that missed or didn't get caught in the 4rth that could have won it. Really played out like a coin flip.

Just because you're prejudiced against the speaker doesn't mean you can ignore the obvious life lesson he's trying to share.

That cheaters win 3 Super Bowls and stop winning when they are forced to stop cheating?

Meh. Brady made some really, really bad decisions. That safety was embarrassing and you would think he'd learn not to huck the ball up into a good defense after the stupid interception against the Ravens.

I'm still really annoyed about the Eli MVP award. I'm so tired of living in NY and listening to disgruntled Giants fans talk about how Eli doesn't get the recognition he deserves. He's a solid, efficient QB. That does not make him elite. Look at Alex Smith. He's not an elite QB but give him a great defense and look at what he accomplishes.

However, I can't blame this game on the fact that the Giants had an amazing defense (like last super bowl). They actually weren't all that effective (I blame the safey more on Brady than on Tuck) and Brady had lots of opportunities. A limited Gronkowski, Hernandez having trouble holding onto the ball, and terrible decisions by our typically perfect Brady lost us this game. Even our Swiss Cheese defense did ok.

Hopefully we can rebuild the defense in the off season and sign one offensive WR playmaker that is an amazing player before he starts playing for Brady. Branch, Ocho Cinco, and Slater don't make any impact and we can't rely on only short passes to our TEs and Welker. The opponent can simply clog the middle and disrupt Brady with blocked passes.

Brady made some piss poor throws. So piss poor decisions. Receivers dropped a lot of balls regardless how poor the throws were. And that fuckwit Eli Manning has ripped out another piece of what remains of my soul.

Eli is absolutely an elite quarterback. This conversation has been defined by Patriots fans for more than a decade, first in declaring Brady to be an elite, Montana-esque QB after winning his second SB in 2004 and in the constant Peyton Manning-Brady debates.

Eli had a passer rating over 100 with 9 TDs and 1 INT in four postseason games this year and was the best player in every game he played.

I have been pulling for the Pats, but this loss didn't hit me as hard as it would if it were the Browns. One thing I will say is that I would much prefer to have a competitive team with a legit title opportunity that ends with a heartbreaking loss (e.g. Indians for almost a decade starting in the mid 90s, or Cavs with LeBitch) as opposed to incompetence for the entire season.

If it makes Boston fans feel any better, Cleveland hasn't won a title in the Super Bowl era....... in any sport.

Now that this super bowl thing is out of the way, we can get back to the most interesting time of the year for us Browns fans..... the draft!

Does anyone have particularly strong views on Robert Griffin III?

Almost, but not quite cam, from what ive seen heard.
