Id go even further to point out that the end does not justify the means. A law that clearly carves out a loophole in the law that will allow police to use racial profiling is wrong.
Its the same as people who think that people who appear to be muslim in airports should face stricter screening before getting to their gate.
So even if there was a problem (rising crime due to illegal immigration), the repercussions that follow the circumvention of our civil liberties cancels out any gains seen from the unconstitutional law.
