| Walker is a chump but what bugs me more is how Francis Underwood decided from the start of the show that it's a good idea to just piss off as many people as possible. And somehow this will lead to ultimate power? His whole core plan just sucks. Of course it creates the tension the show thrives on but anyone who is so set out to betray and manipulate people would have quickly learned that this just doesn't fly. People see through it and you're done. I'd estimate after kindergarten or at least early high school everyone with the manipulative mindset of Underwood would have figured this out (the hard way). How is it a good idea to piss off the president, some super rich and powerful energy old guy like Tusk, attach your name to run a candidate that you know will fail, fuck with all the senators you can, the list of unnecessary conflict is endless. When a guy as rich and powerful as Tusk comes to buddy you up, why on earth would you make an enemy out him? All Underwood has going for him at this point are some errant boys like Doug and Meechum. All unprovoked - why take such unpredictable risks? | |
