I made the final table of a live Satellite today in Wendover. Gotta go back on monday to play the rest of this shit out. The suspense is killing me. I am third in chips out of Nine guys...

anyone with any last second pointers? PM me or E-Mail me or something cause i am really freakin out about this tourny. I am not really a MTT kind of guy, i have just been making hella ballsy plays and have almost pooped my pants like 15 times.

there were 250 entrants. top 2 go to WSOP main event. All of us at teh final table can choose entrance into a 1,500 event + travel or 3k cash. I am gonna take the cash if I dont main event.

thats a great question that i would be glad to answer. I am the middle stack at the table of four guys left. On the button i get dealt a 74o. While not my favorite hand, i recognize the skills, so i lay into the blinds for about a third of my stack. folds all around. very next hand, i see AA. w00t! i bet the same amount, button calls, SB folds, BB (big stack) raises me AI. I think, for a second for drama, get a count of the pot, and the bet, and my stack, and push all my chips in. Button folds (thankfully) and we flip our cards. BB shows AK doesnt improve and I now have a little more than two thirds of the chips on the table. The guy who was in the small blind took a couple of orbits but finally pushed with an A8. I called him down with 10-7 and made a straight on the turn. That was it. I am headed to WSOP main event.

Oh ya, and I dont have any apparall afilliations either, so If x-man wants to kick in a thong or two I would be proud to rep FTR all over vegas.

edited to include you dog. thanks for the help. it helped a lot! I cam over the top of one of those big stacks i was telling you about, haha, he showed me his QQ as he folded it, and asked if I had aces. I showed 63 of hearts, and i think he honestly pooped in his pants. It was great. He tilted off his stack in about another hour or so. I felt bad... for a minute!

Weeeeeeeee! We definitely need to have a little FTR party in Vegas.

As far as advice goes, the main thing I think is to get as much live (in a casino preferably) play in as you can between now and then, since you want to make sure you feel comfortable enough to play your game, along with not shaking when you have big hands, etc.

Other than that, some good advice is to read up on very deep stack poker, which is something I'm working on as well. Its a very different game from online MTTs, where you start with 1000-2500 (average on PS is 1500, which is a starting stack of 75 BB) chips and the blinds go up every 10-20 minutes. For the main event we'll be starting with 10k in chips (200xBB), and the blinds will go up every 2 hours. Hands are dealt slower in live games, but its around half the hands in the same amount of time, so it'll still be like an online MTT with 1 hour blinds, which is very different than we're use to. Patience, on the first day especially, will be a big factor I think, and will probably be the biggest problem I face as well.

Thanks for the suggestions! I just read about the blind structure as well. That'll be different, but more comfortable for me at the start at least. I think it'll take me a bit of time to settle down there, so not being under any pressure at the start to stay ahead of the blinds will be nice.

If y'all wanna hook up while we're there, I'm game! I have no idea where I'm staying yet.... Empire isn't quite as organized as PokerStars I don't think.... so I have too book my own hotel and everything. Basically they just pay me $2000 in expenses sometime this month, and I take care of all the arrangements after that (except for signing me up which they take care of). Any hotel recommendations? The Rio is a little out of my BR I think. I'd like something close though....

That also means that I'm pretty sure I don't have to wear Empire gear. So... if an FTR hat somehow made it's way to my mailbox, I'd do my best to get it on TV!

Wow, cool. I actually bought that DD poker thing because you can set up your own blind structures, starting stacks, and all that, so I could try out some deep stack poker. The AI is pretty damn ridiculous at times, though.

Meh. A satellite for $100+10 with 90 players... if this is a cash game, I make about $2000 here. Since it was winner only though, I get a $12000 package (including $2000 expenses) to the biggest poker game there is.

That's the neat thing about these qualifiers. Since there are so few paying positions, when you win one the ROI is huge.

I've finally taken care of my hotel and flight and all that. I'll be flying down on June 20th, and staying at the Rio until July 6th, and then I'll switch over to MGM Grand until July 15th, since that was included in my WSOP package on Party.
