    Default Older Laptop question

I have an older laptop I was going to take with me on vacation. I have been cleaning up the crap my ex put on it and am trying to fix the screen settings.

Running XP on an older Dell. For some reason when I try to expand the screen size, from 1024x768 to say 1600x1200 the desktop actually expands way out past the borders and I need to scroll around with the mouse. This sucks because I can't view web pages properly in 1024x768 because everything is too large.

Thoughts on running a higher resolution within the screen size??

probably best to uninstall stars and full tilt from it as well so you don't accidently start them in the us.

What model dell is it , you may be limited on actual screen resolution you can display.

no stars or tilt on this one. It's an older Latitude. It displays huge settings like 1920x1440 but I just have to mouse scroll all the way up and over. The sizes seem to be actual size of the desktop and not shrunk down to fit the screen.

laptop screens can fake highers resolutions than they're designed for by doing what you described it's doing, but you're better off just running at the native resolution because scrolling around like that is silly.
