don't you have to create a bootable image first though? i have a program called MagicISO that is supposed to be able to handle it, but the tutorial sucks a lot. I need to recover a password to logon to someone's PC (pretty sure they have a virus), and the pw recovery program I downloaded said to create a bootable disc with it. any other ways to recover a pw?

I thought you already had an iso file? I don't know how to make an iso file, but I know that if you have an iso file (like a windows xp iso for example) and you wanted to make the disc bootable, you just need to create a bootable disc from that .iso file.

I don't know about how to recover a password, except to ask him to try to remember real hard.

well i was reading about bootable discs/images, and it sounded like i can't just burn the ISO to a bootable disc. it sounded like something else had to be done to make the image "bootable" first. i'm usually alright at this stuff, but nothing i've searched for has been very clear so far.

Here is an easy to follow, yet poorly written, guide (that includes links to software) of how to create a bootable cd:

    http://old.bink.nu/xpbootcd/

Basically use the winimage program to extract your .iso file, select "Bootable CD" (or equivalent) with your burning software, tweak the setting as shown in the pictures, then burn.

Note that this is how to make a bootable Windows XP cd, however it does say "...or you have an ISO when burned to CD does not Boot?" so I am assuming this will work for any iso.... but no guarantees.

well the thing is, my iso file is downloaded so i can't extract it in the proper way so i guess i have to find out what to do to make it compatible.
