    Default Podcasts on Android

    I have been using Google Reader to subscribe to podcasts RSS and this automatically syncs with Google Listen. However, both of these are about to be eliminated. I would love to avoid iTunes (if that's even an option).

    What do you use, what should I switch to?

    That is a streaming service. They brag about no syncing and downloading, but that's what I want!

    Are most people on Android using iTunes? Or am I just the only non-stitcher using, podcast listening, android user here?

    No, there's not! Do you actually dowload and copy them? How do you have the time to do that between bridling your donkey and tilling the land!

    I wasn't sure, sorry to get your hopes up.

    Google Listen synced with Google Reader. You subscribed to podcasts RSS feed, so when a new one was available and you were on wi-fi it would automatically download it. So you have a list of stuff to listen too at the ready with no need for a data connection. Sadly both are being decommissioned soon.

    look in the android thread in OOT on 2p2. someone there mentioned an alternative to reader a few weeks ago maybe that i seem to remember had that same functionality. i've been meaning to read back through there to find the rss reader for when google's is discontinued, but haven't had the time to look yet. I'll link it here if i find it.

    I have an app that's called "Reader" and it's by google, and I use it to read epub books, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything else.
    Google needs to get their shit together. I don't know who is what anymore.

    Try a good old Google search for android podcast rss. Quite a few options out there (can't recommend as I am not using them myself).

    For reader software, one of the best for Android atm is Aldiko. CoolReader is also available.
