i took a class on biological clocks, but i did terrible in it. your body runs on clock genes that cycle, and i'm pretty sure your organs run using different methods than your sleep does. i'm betting not sleeping in a 24 hour pattern has a lot of different negative affects on stuff, maybe i'll look it up.
But it could possibly be positive. Just because something isn't known doesn't make it bad.

Btw, my turn
It could, but the chances are stacked dramatically against it. Why? Because if it worked better another way, then evolution would have taken care of it and had us not develop an internal clock with a 24 hour cycle on it.
I think it's more of programming that we have a 24 hour cycle to things, because that is how we work. When babies are born they don't have this training and naturally sleep polyphasically.
