I picked one up for £6 or something and was intrigued. So I dismantled it down to the circuit board with the battery and flash still attached.
I crossed the 2 wires that take the charge from the battery, nothing happened. I picked the unit up by the circuit board and I felt an electric shock that made me jump back and drop the thing.
I lolled , looked down at it, couldn't believe that I could get a shock from it. So I tried touching it quickly a few times, nothing, no second shock.
I picked it up. thinking maybe I didn't get a shock. I crossed them 2 wires again. Still nothing. So I picked it up again.
another shock. Dropped it again. I looked around, no one witnessed it. (I was at work, should have been laying bricks, the forman hadn't seen me skiving)
I picked it up again. Crossed them wires again. I got my face really close, pressed the flash button. The flash went off right before my eyes. Blinded me for a few seconds.
This was about ten years ago.
