i just read the cooking stuff and some great points made by mcatdog, boost and benny. i would like to add to this comment.

If you don't have time to read about food or take classes, the Food Network can be great for learning about flavour concepts and cooking methods. ... Focus on learning the hows and whys and you'll shortly have mad, flexible skills you can use in any situation.

cooking classes > wathcing cooking on screen > reading cookbooks
Public libraries usually have a large cookbook selection and some dvd's. Food Network is not the only source of video, check out PBS and other channels.


Eat some amazing food at an awesome restaurant to get exicted about cooking. try different things while out dining, most people get the same style stuff of the menu everytime.(i can tell you exactly what my parents will order, off of just about any menu. but they think they are trying new things)

mcat, benny, boost, flomo-- interesting stuff about food preparation. like I'm obviously smart enough to realize the importance of fresh ingredients in cooking, it's just something that I was never really taught. I go in stretches where I make an attempt to work on it, then I go back to eating like a slob. I just devoured 3/4's of a large taco pizza was delicious. I am seriously lucky that I work out so hard and probably have good genetics because I'm in great shape; it boggles many a smart mind. Observation: The amount of weight people are claiming to do (with good form) and what I see people ACTUALLY do in the gym (with crappy form and reps that are way too fast) do not match. People almost invariably go through the eccentric phase of a lift too quickly.

Explosive concentrics with heavy weight are very useful IMO, for pretty much the reason you laid out, although it's not quite that simple.

I also meant guys cheating with momentum.. for example guys freefalling a bench press and bouncing it off their chest.

My main point though was that a guy that can bounce 225 off his chest 3 times will post on the internet that he repped out 8x275 with perfect form.

My Friday Night:

Last night I caught a guy I've known since I was 15 pocketing shit out of my house. (My ipod, clothes, old blackberry, gf's jewelry) Confronted him and he denied it even after i made him run his pockets and found a bunch of my stuff. Took necessary actions and and beat his faggot ass all the way out the front door and into the street. Apparantly I fucked him up worse than I thought because when the cops showed up they came with an ambulance to take him to the hospital. (Neighbors called ldo)

FYI: I found out tonite it is 100% legal to kick someones ass in your house as bad as you want and get away with it, if anyone was wondering

Aaaaanyways, at like 3 this morning the guy shows up looking like he got hit by a car or something (thinly veiled brag) with a few friends and some guns and jacked me for my Macbook and a couple other random things. Cops found him got it back hauled them off. He'll probably post bail and come back so i'm going gun shopping today. I'm pretty gun illiterate so hopefully I don't get fucked over.

Even the stupidest motherfucker knows that his handgun and crew will not protect him from the powerful spread of a shotgun.

Other reasons for shotguns are that they're virtually impossible to miss with, stopping power is 100%, they're scary as shit, and even something as simple as hearing a shotgun cock can scare away intruders, kinda like how a dog growling scares intruders.

They also can be easy to handle. Just get a 20-gauge, sawed off if you want, small and not much kick. Some don't even need the shoulder backstop. Also, they're fantastic for nervousness and women since you don't have to aim a shotgun, you just point and the pellets do the rest.

Personally, I'm a big fan of shotguns for home defense. Nothing says GTFO like a big ass gun that never misses and shreds its victims. The scare factor is rather important too because sometimes intruders just aren't going to be that scared of some wimpy little pistol. It was just him at the door at first, so i opened the door with plans to rock his ass again for coming back and then his "homeboys" jumped out and bumrushed the place.

I thought I had gotten back everything he had stolen at the first encounter with the police before he left the area.

So since I didn't know he made it out with anything they couldnt't get him for robbery. He went to my neighbors and called the cops saying I stole his digital camera and smacked him around for no reason. Obviously didn't hold since I had witnesses and the cops that came back at 3 said the first cops should have taken him for filing a false report then and there but they just took him to the E.R. stitched him up and released him. He didn't actually get arrested until the armed robbery and >$3000 worth of stuff was taken. And when they found the guys in their car that's when they found alll the jewelry/movies etc he had gotten the first time around.

He had gotten bad on crystal meth since the last time I saw him (didn't know at the time) so we didn't have prior beef or anything and we were actually cool and i was glad to see him. He was just looking to hit and pawn or whatever those kinda people do.

Since you have little experience with guns, go to a gun shop that has a firing range. Ask if you can shoot some guns before buying, these will be used guns. I suggest buying a used gun because guns are like rocks, new gun, used gun, new rock, used rock-it is all the same. You will probably never use the gun for self defense so get one that makes your penis swell. take a hunter safety course if you do get a gun.

At self defense ranges the spread of buckshot is going to be tiny-- perhaps a few inches. It certainly won't be enough to, in any way, qualify your not having to aim statement. That is ridiculous.

I don't disagree. However, a few inches is a lot, and it's easier for amateurs to aim firearms like shotguns than most pistols due to barrel and stability. If somebody has practice, then there's no difference, but for novices it's easier to get accurate shots with longer barrels simply due to what aiming looks like. Also, sawed-offs will produce larger patter.

The difference is going to be rather negligible, though. Pretty much any firearm will do the trick.
