Dawkins and Hitchens believe the Pope would be unable to claim diplomatic immunity from arrest because, although his tour is categorized as a state visit, he is not the head of a state recognised by the United Nations.
Haha, the Swiss Guard is gonna declare war on England.

    You guise are toast.

The Pope would be all like, "NEIN, DAWKINS, IMMA ARREST...YOU" and then lightning would shoot out of his fingers Palpatine-style.

Then, as he walked away from Dick's charred corpse, he'd be all "Let's see you evolve from that, Science Boy!" as he donned his fancy red Pope hat...the one with the fur brim.

are people really so afraid of blasphemy or sacrilege or whatever that it takes a couple of outspoken atheists to come up with the bright idea of arresting people who conspire with child molesters?

    also, that clip was hilarity

Would have been 10x more epic if it hadn't leaked to the press first.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

I hate it when they use the excuse:

But what about the good things that the church does?

There are so many things wrong with this argument. One of which is that if a robber was on trail and said, "What about my charity work?"

I wouldn't say it's fear of blasphemy, but fear of being wrong, fear of lack of comfort, and fear of confusion

One of the primary reasons for the existence of religion in the first place is to ward off the stress wrought by those things. Humans will mostly sweep things under the rug before they question themselves and the world. It's almost never about blasphemy. It's usually about cognitive dissonance and avoiding negative feelings that reach to their core emotions.

Questioning the church leads to things like questioning god and all the things you've believed since you can remember. Ego is an essential facet of the mind, and questioning some basic things is more devastating for the ego than it may seem

As he's not a policeman, does that mean he's going to attempt a citizens arrest on the pope?

I think the article suggested he's trying to get the CPS involved so, no, he won't physically be doing it.

As others have posted, it won't happen but I applaud anyone publicly standing up against the catholic church a) letting this stuff happen and b) thinking they can sweep it under the carpet like it doesn't matter.
