    Default Scuba Diving

Any FTR'ers also divers? I've been diving for around 6 years now, somewhere in the region of 300 dives (stopped logging when I was diving every day last summer). Qualified as a PADI Divemaster last summer, possibly going to take an IDC this summer. Also a keen underwater photographer (hence the avatar). Had a couple of pictures published, but not quite ready to turn pro. Next step up camera wise is gonna cost me in the region of $4k, so I think I'll wait it out a while!

I dive out of planes every weekend and will actually be trying to get SCUBA certified this summer at one point or another. I saw an ad in the paper for a complete gear set with everything u need for like 400 bucks and I was thinkin of buying it. How much is training?

I used to do freediving, and I'd love to scuba dive. But the water around where I live is pretty damn muddy because of the constant winds. It's a shame really cause there are alot of shipwrecks around here.

What I'd like to do is go get a certificate in some warm country around the medeteranian, or maybe australia

The PADI Open Water course (basic certification course) costs sround $300. Exact price depends on exactly where you do it, as each dive cenntre sets their own prices. Generally done over 3-5 days. I'd be a bit wary about buying your own equipment until you have a little experience, because you may get lumped with kit that is unsuitable for your requirements. The open water course restricts you to dive to a maximum of 18m, and may limit your choices for diving in some areas

check out the PADI dive centre locator for your local centre.

Also an avid diver, but this season has been tough with the birth of my son last month. I am through rescue diver and hoping to to get through divemaster within 2 years. Dive year round, but finding dive buddies in the winter is a bit tough.

Let me know if you ever want to dive in RI/New England - we have some great wrecks for photographing.

MT, great shots. Where were these taken and what set up are you using?

Any wreck photos? I tried to take some photos last year, but given the New England waters, I need to seriously invest in an external strobe.
