That doesn't surprise me. Our media will whip anything up into a frenzy. Look how our newspapers respond when the German Royal Family have a fucking wedding.
It's the natural response to sporting failure. You might be better than us at the game we cherish, but we beat you up 70 years ago, and don't you forget it.
It's the same when we lose to Argentina. Fuck, we lost to them, but it's ok, because we stole their islands and then kicked their arses when they tried to take them back. So there.
