    Default And so it begins.....

... I hate snow. I wish I had a before picture, but scouts honor there was not one flake of snow on the ground the day before I took these pictures, then we got over 2 feet in ONE night. (This storm happened last week but my camera was being a POS and couldn't get them on here until now.)

Took about 2 hours to clear both driveways... did anyone else get blasted last week? Does anyone else know what snow looks like?

No idea. Not that I didn't try, mind you. I looked all over the greater Sarasota/Bradenton area and could not find any trace of snow. Oh well.... it's sunny with temps in the mid 80's today; I'm going to the beach. :P

We missed it over here. It snowed for about an hour, but just enough to barely cover the ground white and it was gone the next morning.

One-Eyed Jack's Card Room at the Sarasota Dog Track. 32 tables, good selection of games. Just be aware that this IS Florida... that means a hefty rake. Also this room's buy in rules are absurd.(just click the link and see for yourself) Only sodas and such are comped when playing(though the bar is located in the room so service is quick) and there is no food to speak of other than the snack bar which serves the entire track.

On the plus side, the competition is really easy; even I can clean house at the tables. It is also much more laid back than the Hard Rock.

The Hard Rock is a madhouse. Noisy, congested, and there is usually a fairly hefty waiting period. The rake is ridiculous(as with the rest of FL) but the buy in rules are a bit easier than the Sarasota room.(though still a bit crazy... $100 max at 1/2 NL) Comptition is a bit stiffer than Sarasota, but still easier than most card rooms.

Just like Sarasota, only non-alcoholic drinks are comped when playing. Unlike Sarasota, it takes forever and a day for your drink to arrive. The poker room is located next to a food court which has a variety of so-so eats.

I'll be out of town until the 21st. If you are still in the area when I get back and want to have mini FTR meet up at the dog track or Hard Rock, just shoot me a PM and we'll set things in motion.

I feel your pain. For 7 years I lived in the snow belt north of Toronto. I am finally back in the Big City, so I am hoping to have a normal winter. I hate the shit, and anyone who has shoveled a walkway and driveway almost daily for months on end probably feels the same way.

I wasn't gonna believe you that it snowed so much in one night, but then I saw it was on your "scout's honor" so all doubt has been put aside.

From 1990-1998 it was raining. From 1999-2007 it was overcast.

When it snowed hard on thursday I was digging a trench as part of a World War re-inactment.

I live in southern ontario and am not looking forward to the snow. it's cold, wet, and drivers get worse somehow. it's as if half of the canadians on the road forgot how to drive in snowy conditions.

My friend moved to San Deigo when we graduated. First Christmas everyone he worked with was "oh, you're so lucky to go to the snow" So he spent the entire week taking pictures of the brown/black snow on the sides of roads, and all the other gross shit you have to deal with.

Leg, I've got a spare bedroom if you want to move to Ohio. I still get's cold here but there's only snow here for like 2 weeks at worst, and almost never 2 feet.

wow thats gay, in wisconsin we need so much more than that and probably some ice under it.
another thing i hate about winter is scraping my car in the morning. im always late because of it and i refuse to get up 2 minutes earlier to adjust for it.
