Third-wave feminism is something I could write about for hours. I firmly believe that it does more to hurt women as a whole than it does to help them. Modern feminism is less concerned with equal opportunities for women as it is advancing the interests of feminist women as much as possible to the point that it becomes unreasonable and ridiculous, and that's where it loses me. The current situation with rape law in the United States is a great example.
Suppose I go to a party with my girlfriend, we get drunk, she rides my dick and we go to sleep. Thanks to modern feminism, I could be convicted of rape. Someone who is intoxicated cannot legally consent, and since I was not legally given consent to penetrate her, it's rape. It doesn't matter that we were both drunk or that she consented at the time. I know it sounds ridiculous, but that's why it pisses me off.
Suppose I'm making out with my girlfriend, and we're both sober. I start fingering her while we're making out, and she's into it. Out of nowhere, she gets up and leaves. Thanks to modern feminism, I could be convicted of rape. Now I know this sounds too ridiculous to be true, but that's why I'm so pissed off about it. Because I didn't specifically get positive consent (ie: she said yes she wants that), if she didn't want me to do it, then it's rape, even if she never told me. The only proof that is needed in this case is the "victim" saying I didn't get positive consent and that she didn't want to.
Suppose I'm getting naked with my girlfriend, and we're both sober. I ask her specifically if she wants to have sex, and she says yes. We start having sex, and in the middle of it, she gets up and leaves. Thanks to modern feminism, believe it or not, I can be convicted of rape. If consent is given as a result of [alleged] coercion, as in she feels like she can't tell me no out of fear (justified or not), then it's not legal consent, and that makes it rape. The only proof that is needed in this case is the "victim" saying so.
People who make false rape accusations are very rarely charged in the United States. The main reason for this is that there is a lot of political pressure for prosecutors not to. Modern feminists claim that going after people who clearly admit to making false rape accusations will make real victims scared to come forward. I'm of the opinion that it would have the opposite effect.
Now what's so really fucked up about it is that modern feminism insists that "rape" cases like the three hypothetical scenarios above are on the same level of rape as something like the Steubenville case with the football players and whatever.
Some people don't think that cases like this happen, but they happen all the time.
Quick example, though it's really easy to find tons of other examples like it. In 2009, a handful of guys gang-banged a chick at Hofstra University. Her boyfriend found out about it, and she cried rape to keep from looking like she just decided to get gang-banged by a group of guys she had just met (which was the case). She stuck by her story, and four men were very close to being sent to prison over it and having their lives ruined just because she said so. Part of the gang-bang was caught on video from another guy's cell phone, and he decided to come forward. It showed a much different scenario than what the girl said happened, and then she confessed that she made it all up to keep her boyfriend from finding out that she got gang-banged by four or five strangers for fun on a whim. The prosecutor refused to press charges against the chick.
So this has become longer than I meant for it to, but the rape law situation is something that I think all men from the US should know about. Right now, there isn't really any legal avenue that men can take. The two main reasons, other than third-wave feminist horse shit rhetoric, that stuff like this isn't getting taken seriously are:
1. So-called "men's rights activists" (MRAs) are mostly complete idiots who sit around making "lol get back in the kitchen" jokes.
2. It sounds too ridiculous to be true.
