As mentioned earlier, I'm in the process of editing it.

    ----------

Along the same lines, consent is currently NOT a defense for physically harming another. Do you feel exceptions should be made for activities such as BDSM and why?

If the United States was forced to solve issues one at a time, which should be first in line? (Gay rights, Poverty, abortion, gun rights, unemployment, healthcare, policy on war powers, at-will employment, PACs, whatever)
@bold, In the alcohol and coercion examples, the vast majority of states could convict you there for the same reason that they could convict you for having sex with someone below the age of consent. Legally, someone cannot consent under those two conditions, and the alleged rapist does not have to be aware of either of them to be convicted. In short, it's a question of the definition of consent, not the definition of rape.

One major problem here is that there is no defense to an alleged victim making up the coercion where there really was none. In the positive consent example, it's not to the point (yet) where this is the case in most of the United States, but modern feminists are making big pushes to make this the case. I just gave these three examples to bring up the huge problems that are starting to become more prevalent. Julian Assange, for example, picked up rape charges in this type of situation. The charges were upheld even in the face of a massive amount of evidence that they were utter horseshit.

The BDSM consent thing is a fun topic because it's such a direct example of ideological differences. Some people believe that two consenting adults should be able to agree to do anything together in the privacy of their home as long as no one else is involved, and others think that there should be limits on what behavior is allowed. Since a contract or agreement isn't legally binding if you can prove that you signed or agreed under coercion or duress, then it's easy to argue that people should be able to do anything without limits. On the other hand, tax dollars are often at question if someone does something stupid in these types of situations, so you could also argue that there should be laws to protect people from having to pay for other peoples fuck-ups. I personally tend to lean towards allowing people to do whatever they want as long as all parties consent. Safewords are there for a reason.

There was a recent case in the UK where this came up in what would probably be considered a very unfavorable situation and the man was found not guilty: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-contract.html One of the things that gave him a large advantage was that there was a signed contract that included instructions to use a specific safeword, which the alleged victim did not use at any point.

If I had to personally pick a "social issue" that I would attack, it would be education. I would cut into the military budget (which accounts for ~40% of the worldwide military budgets combined) and pay teachers substantially more.

I wouldn't want my dick to be much bigger in size. Combine that with the distinct advantages that an attractive female has right now, and it's a pretty easy decision assuming I keep the same mental capacity.

Kind of depends on how you look at it. I'm living in cambodia right now and basically any local here who isn't a beautiful woman is in a world of shit. The beautiful women are able to find a rich man or a foreigner (who's also rich) to take care of them. Some measure of this advantage exists everywhere in the world but its especially large in poorer places like this, which make up the majority of the world. You'll never, ever, find an attractive woman sleeping on a cardboard box on the sidewalk. It's inconceivable.

Does that benefit make up for all the shitty aspects of being female? Maybe not. But it's up for debate. Would I switch places with a beautiful woman who's the same age as me with the exact same personality and mental capability (only a switch in sexual proclivity)? Yes, probably. But I'm not sure whether that'd be better than being a taller and more attractive man than I am.

I agree, and nobody is going to accuse me of being a feminist anytime soon.
