I want to expand a bit on the rape thing because I think it turns into an "us vs. them" type thing when it's really not. Both men and women are getting fucked over with the way that rape is currently treated.
I'm completely against victim blaming when there is an actual victim, but I'm also completely against calling someone a rapist if they haven't raped anyone. If you want to see something that REALLY fucking pisses me off, then take a look at this study and others that show that the majority of people believe that rape victims should take responsibility for being raped. This is bullshit.
However, a major part of the reason that rape victims are treated like this is that people know that there aren't any real consequences for making a false rape accusation. It's basically an attention-grabbing (or $750,000-grabbing) freeroll for the psychos who want to do that sort of thing. If false rape accusations were treated more seriously, then people would treat rape victims more seriously.
When false rape accusations aren't severely punished, it makes people take women less seriously when they come forward saying that they were raped. I mean, if I falsely accused someone of murder and they were put in prison for five years, I would be fucked. But in this false rape case, I would get $750,000 for putting someone in prison for five years for a rape he didn't commit, and I wouldn't be charged.
