This "inherent economic value" is only proportional to their attractiveness, so it's hard to generalize that argument to the entire female population.

dunno i think almost every woman is attractive to someone. And the analog for men doesn't really exist. I mean I suppose if you are in the top 5%ile of male attractiveness you might get some similar benefits as a man, but its certainly lessened due to our culture.

Due to the generally monogamous nature of cultures, and the fact that in most countries there are more women than men, I think most men can find someone who is desirable. This is especially the case if what you say is true, that almost every woman is attractive to someone but (implied) there are a lot of men who, in the eyes of women, are not attractive/desirable. I know which side of that I would rather be on

True, but generally the kind of guys susceptible to gold diggers are shallow, and no uggos or fatties allowed. The idea that women are better off because they can gold dig is more and more true at the hottest end of the spectrum, and less and less as we descend into uggo territory.

Objective beauty standards do exist to some extent. Luckily for the sub-5s, it's possible to fall in love with less attractive people. Pretty sure the brain tricks you into thinking people are hotter after enough time if you really like other things about them.

I think there is an analogy for men, it's just more complicated than physical attractiveness because women's standards are more multi-faceted than our simpleton male standards.

Being attractive benefits both genders quite a bit, I'm not sure the many unattractive women have it easier than the unattractive man.

Besides, rich housewives MUST have it tough. Why else would they need wine & benzos to get through the day?
