It is a pretty complex topic. Typically the ratio of boys to girls at birth is about 1.05:1. As you go further along the spectrum that tends to shift and by later age groups, women invariably outnumber men. It's probably completely inconsequential for our purposes, and in some countries in the age group that is relevant for this discussion men might still outnumber women.
