Default Is this still the online handshake?

    Chat from tonight on PS:
Ltrain: Hey Miffed, is an asshat a noun or a verb?
    Miffed22001: (sound of crickets chirping)

i never understood how "hey, are you _____ from ftr?" wasn't just better. it's more effective and doesn't make all parties involved look like asshats.

maybe thats the idea or something.

The problem with "are you from ftr" is that the fish can get curious, google "ftr", go to the second page of hits, and find their way here.

I always thought it was kind of weird how people think all that seperates fish from good players is the thought of googling poker strategy. Do you realize how many people can read these sites for years and still suck at this game? Not naming any names... *ahem* Galapogos *cough*

When I googled FTR it was pretty far down. 6th is the hand-converter. The first forum link is on the 2nd page.

You guys got the sarcasm in my post, right? I was assuming the go to the second page of hits made that clear enough.

the vast majority of people who join ftr as a fish, stay a fish.

also googling ftr returns absolutely nothing about poker on the first page.

    Hey. I represent that statement!
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

i think that last post came off as way, way too overcritical of ftr than what i wanted to. basically my point is that (IMO), just about anybody who has played online poker has either read books, seen online strategy sites or poker forums or whatnot, and most still suck. FTR, even surely being one of the better sites out the for making people get better, can only do so much. Most people who come to this site that were originally bad were still bad, and the ones that became better became better predominantly through a good work ethic and a lot of hands/studying, and not some magic forumla that ftr has.

hopefully that made sense, i'm a little buzzed right now.
