Last year while in Gulfport, Mississippi I stopped in at the Island View Casino. Upon questioning security staff I found out that they offered no poker as we know it. None. I was shocked. It may come one day. They know... Until then, they offer one table with a game they call, Texas Hold'em Bonus. One table....... I walked out, got a cab and went and played in, Biloxi.... A few weeks later I walked up from the dock and went back into the Island View, for a few..Ah, what the hell...Texas Hold'em Bonus is a house game, make no mistake. No matter how many players there are, (8 max I think) it's heads up. You against the house. Players show each other their cards, somtimes. It's funny! You can lose money...T'aint funny no more........ THE HOUSE NEVER LOSES said, Jimmy The Greek. Man, was he right. You are dealt cards and play proceeds, COUNTERCLOCKWISE. Regular hold'em players will be thrown off balance just by that. Tourists don't have a clue. Everyone must put up an ante or, you don't get cards. The smallest ammount is $5. The max is $25. The Bonus part is very important. You get paid if you are dealt any pair. Or, high cards like, KQo, AJs etc. The odds are printed into the table top felt. House odds, NOT, real odds. Pairs JJ and up are paid more. AA is paid the best. (Ironically, it pays more than being dealt AK suited if, I remember correctly. They know what they are doing...) So, you put up a $5 ante with no bonus money out. You get AA and bet every street but, lose. (You can only bet $5 per street based on the ante ammount). The dealer won with two pair. You lose twice because, you put up no bonus money...It pays to put out a bonus. You just don't over do it. ...I had $25 in ante and $25 in bonus out when I got, AA. I maxed out. I bet every street. I made over a grand on that one hand. That didn't happen again. Ironically, I only broke even over two sessions............ They know what they are doing. I drank Guinness for free and got a taste of the game. Let's call it a stalemate. .........This game is not highly advertised or, available in every casino. I've found it by accident while looking at places over the internet throughout the country. It's not for everyone. You can make money. If, you can't figure it out with $300 and no more then, find another game. I'll give it another shot in a few weeks when I go on vacation. A different casino. They got it. I already checked........P.S/ Personal Note:. If, you have ever heard of the chef, Emril and like his stuff you are in luck. Emril opened a restaurant at the Island View Casino at the same time I was in Gulfport. I didn't try any of the food. But, don't let that stop you. It's probably very good. Really. He's come a long way since, junior high. He started with nothing. I should know.... He was due to arrive after our ship left to promote the Grand Opening. ......."Bonus" questions only, sil vous plait. I'll have more to say on this topic in a few weeks but, I can field a few if you have any.
