    Default Thanks FTR

Just wanted so say thanks to FTR for all of the learning tools and help.

My BR went over $2000 last week from a starting deposit of $150. Its been building slowly up to $400 through sng play, and a $1700 MTT cash helped quit a bit. But reguardless, i cashed out $1600 today to push the downpayment for my wife and I's new house over the 20% mark.

So thanks to everyone, and i hope i dont hit the cashout downswing now.

On a side note, i was thinking about making the transition over to ring, and was wondering if i am properly rolled for $25 NL. I have played about 5000 hands of $5-$10 NL over the last few months, but nothing serious. I basically broke even over this stretch, but my game has improved by leaps and bounds over the last month. I think I will give $25 NL a shot 2 tabling and see how it goes.

    thanks again,

    zach

If you have $400 and are confident in your ring game, 16 buyins ought to be fine two tabling. The general rule of thumb seems to be 20, but if you have the discipline to move down to $10 NL when you take a hit, 16 should be okay. If I were you, I would want a few more hands in at $10 NL since your experience is tourneys, IMHO.....

The biggest difference for me was the fact that you can't loosen up after a while in ring like you have to in a tourney. You have to be much more patient and really wait for good hands to play. The flip side of that is that you have no pressure to force the issue.

    Congrats on the house, man!!!

i actually have around $575 left behind after the withdraw. i just used $2000 as a nice round number. im going to try $25 NL and if i drop below even $500, ill drop down to $10 NL for maybe another 5k hands, or until i feel comfortable. I should be fine though, ive played $25 NL a few times and had success, i just havent played many hands.

    thanks for the advice

Seriously, there are few sharks and enough fish that a patient, unspectacular, ABC game WILL work at $25NL. Whether you have that game is for you to decide, but believe me, you're a good enough *poker* player to be able to make the adjustment easily. I say go for it.
