    Fear

"We're still here and we will do it again."

The real question is who is sending that message and what is the need for the fear?
  4. #4
Not sure what any of this means, but I think we can now conclude that Venezuala has WMD, and we should bomb them

this is just getting you ready for the real thing, when it actually happens

    that's all

    1. "I think the government is responsible." This made me go YES! No, not that they're responsible for the actual bomb, but more so that they're responsible for the over-the-top coverage this has received. Read about who owns the mass media, who they're connected to, etc, and you'll get a clearer picture of what I'm talking about.

I was sitting in Waco, Texas, this morning with my wife's family (we were in town because my sister-in-law graduated from law school this weekend, woot!). We're sitting around having breakfast at a Marriott Hotel, watching coverage of the ABSOLUTE SCARY SHIT EVENTS OF A FAILED ATTACK, and fuck...what can I do, but go on a rant about how this is sensationalism, how it's what "they" want, etc. My mother-in-law needs further explanation, so I go into how this is all a show, how someone is going to claim they're behind it, how they're going to claim there will be more (successful) attacks, etc......and low and behold.......? That's right, I get off the plane and read this.

Expect more SUCCESSFUL attacks, people. It's in the plan for some reason.

    2. "I think we have a responsible gov't, as well." This made me LOL for non-conspiracy and total comedy reasons, well played sir.

wufwugy and/or anyone else rip me a new asshole if you want

Why doesn't the government choose a useless target like Detroit then?

That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

Hey, fuck you lol. Keep that terrorist shit outta my state imo.

Also, if Detroit/MI is attacked ever in the next 70 years, I know who my first suspect is.

Everyone was feeling a little too good about the Obama train ride. Doesn't matter who is responsible, the fear is certainly required to knock p[eople back into their holes like they were 5 years ago or more when they allowed the gov't to pass stupid laws for "your protection". Keep your head up USA.

Fuck, I still need to get my passport taken care of, just to travel 100 miles south in June.

My favorite part is that they accidentally used non-explosive fertilizer in the bomb. I'd like to believe that this is an actual taliban idiot moment and not a US government idiot moment.

Just because I can laugh at Terrorists being so stupid they use
    A) diaper bombs, and
    B) non explody fertilizer.

"you sure you got the right stuff Achmed?"
"question me again and I'll Jihad you Akbar!"
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

I'm pretty sure it's more likely that you'll get stamped to death by an elephant than killed in domestic terrorism
  34. #34
odds go up drastically if you live in manhattan and frequent downtown touristy areas at peak hours.

so if it's estimated that 500 new yorkers will be wounded/killed in domestic terrorist attacks over the course of the next decade, then there's a 1:20,000 chance that anyone who lives in new york for a decade will be a victim. i know that's not gross oversimplification of the math, and that the number would be pretty different from that, but you get the idea.

all that being said, 99.9% of people who are freakin' out over terrorism have a practically 0% chance of being a victim, and even the high-risk portion of the population has a very very low chance.

now if we wanna start talking about nuclear disarmament, now we're talking risks
  35. #35
All Americans have already been victims of "terrorism" you just don't see it like the rest of the world.

people who live in major cities frequent downtown touristy areas? wtf...
  37. #37
What do u mean wtf? It's pretty likely that those are going to be the most common places attacked since there's obviously a higher density of people.

last week i went to the nfl draft at radio city music hall. the bus i take to go to philly picks me up at the macy's on 34th street. i have family and friends that visit me who wanna go to time square and so forth. i go to broadway a lot because i'm a fan of the arts. every once in a while, i go to a bar SOMEWHERE between 30th and 55th streets, i mean c'mon. etc.

it's not like i go to the empire state building every weekend at 6 o' clock or anything, but that doesn't mean i'm not at an increased risk

ya.. thats what pisses me off the most.. some half assed failed terrorism that would have killed a few dozen people at most if it were pulled off is diverting attention from five thousand barrels of crude pooring into the gulf every day. Seriously america? Get your fucking priorities straight.

BBC News - 'Pakistan Taliban' behind Times Square bomb plot
Obama adviser: Times Square bombing suspect linked to Taliban - CNN.com

Wait, so the dudes who've been kicking the shit out of us in Afghanistan for almost 10 years, partly through their expertise at improvised explosives, are behind the plot to put a couple of petrol containers, a few gas canisters (on which the valves were closed), some fireworks and the wrong type of fertilizer in the trunk of a car?

I'm not implying a conspiracy here, but my bullshitometer is going fucking nuts right now.

Taliban behind Times Square plot, says US | World news | The Guardian

"The disclosure came as missiles fired by an American drone killed at least nine people in Pakistan's tribal belt this morning. Two missiles slammed into a house in North Waziristan, the tribal region where Shahzad claims to have met the Taliban leadership and obtained explosives training."

So they're trying to tell us that just by *coincidence* these people who the US have just recently fired missiles at are the very ones who trained this monster bomb maker? Do you honestly want us to buy this shit?
