Default TOM BRADY and Week One NFL Stuff

Tom Brady's left leg was snapped in half just a few minutes ago by a Chiefs defender. The injury may be life threatening. No other details at this time.

BIG RED I'M THERE FOR YOU BUD, CRY ON MY SHOULDER IT'S OK.

P.S. Now it's Chiefs vs. Patriots, "first team to three points wins!"

    what actually happened?

i just see on nfl.com brady down with injury; return questionable (as if we'd trust the patriots when it comes to proper injury reporting anyway)

I saw Favre threw a TD bomb today, what else is happening in the NFL?

Chiefs defender (name escapes me right now) got taken to the ground on a pass rush. Defender did like a bear crawl and dove at Brady's legs and landed on his left leg. Brady's left leg bent awkwardly and as son as he hit the ground he clutched his knee in pain. He was able to limp very slowly off the field. It didn't look super-serious, like season-ending or anything, but it looked bad enough that he might miss a few games because of it.

(Then again, who knows, this is TOM FREAKING BRADY we're talking about, amirite bigred?)

P.S. Moss just caught a TD from Cassel, game over.

I thought a thread with TOM BRADY in the title would attract the masses a little better.

Plus, the "NFL IT'S BACK" thread has a lot of meaningless preseason bullshit, along with overzealous homer-predictions that won't come true. Week one isn't talked about until page two, and really, who wants to go to page two these days?

I'm going to withhold judgement because I havn't actually seen the play, but this brings up a point I've been wanting to make for a long time--

Sooner or later, all the crap the patriots do is going to catch up to them. Call it Spygate, call it running up the score when up 5 TD's in the 4th quarter, call it Vince Wilfork blatantly elbowing the Bill's QB's knee (the name escapes me at the moment), call it Vince Wilfork trying to poke Brandon Jacob's eye out, call it Vrabel taking a cheap shot at the knee's on a spike against the brown's joe thomas, call it rodney harrison being overwhelmingly voted dirtiest player in the league, call it their overwhelming success this decade, whatever you want to call it, everybody in the NFL hates them, and i think you're going to see a big fat target on some of their key players' backs (or knees) in the future.

McNabb had ~300 yards and 3 TDs in the first half. DeSean Jackson could have been a good pick.

my god, ive never seen a more perfect pocket hold for so long for an entire sustained drive as tony romo is getting.

so much for the browns re-vamped d-line, or maybe the cowboys o-line is that good at pass protection.

THATS WHAT IVE BEEN TRYING TO SAY

Shaun Rogers had a nice spin move when he shifted over the left guard and got into the backfield and forced a hold, but that's the only real presure we've had all day.

no idea what mcdonald was doing on the TO TD.. looked like a blown coverage coupled with no pass rush, bad combination in football

hey the new Sports Illustrated has a big piece on the Browns and how they're trying to "get over the hump" and be a playoff team this year. you should check it out.

I love all of the Chiefs' commercials I'm seeing on TV. You used to never see any because tickets to Arrowhead would be sold out as soon as they became available. Now they're having problems filling the seats, and it's looking like some late season games may be blacked out because of this.

The commercials I've seen are laughable. They're going to suck, and everyone knows it. It would be awful to be a member of the Chiefs marketing department, as polishing a turd isn't an easy thing to do.

    i will help them:

we need more defensive talent. a lot more. at the very least a rough and tough inside backer, an outside backer to compliment wimbley, an nfl-caliber free safety (brodney pool has no instincts whatsoever and 3 concussions at age 24.. stick a fork in him); his replacement is no better, and a couple more corners.

    add depth ALL-AROUND to that.

but other than that, we should be ok.

I think it may be time to take Romo out of the game. We have a 3 TD lead and a capable back up. Tony looks hurt, he may have a concussion. I'm not sure that was a dirty hit, but it was certainly an illegal one.

"The play was not intentional," Pollard said, according to The Boston Globe. "People can call me a dirty player, you can call me whatever you want to call me, it's not a dirty play. When you have 230 pounds on your back, and you're trying to go forward, things will happen. I saw the ball was still in his hands and I tried to get to him. I tried to get up and get to him. But I couldn't get up, so I just tried to grab him. It was not an intentional play."
    yeah, sure

and your post play fist-pump was unintentional too

Yeah, for the normal person a torn ACL isn't really that big of a deal. I've known people who have lived with a torn acl for a couple of years and not even known they had one. After the surgery they are back on there feet the next day/within a week walking around.

A major tear I imagine is more crippling than a minor tear. But for a football player it doesn't matter if it's major or minor because they still get the same surgery and miss a year to rehabilitate.

You should be even more ashamed. Who ever wins tomorow night owns a 1 game lead on the AFC west. The Broncos, or the Raiders.

I'm a Broncos fan, but my money is on the Raiders leading the west tomorow.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

    1) Maybe this is the plan. Suck really hard this year and get the first pick, take Matt Stafford from Georgia and FINALLY develop a quarterback for once. Throughout King Carl Peterson's reign (KC's GM) we have never developed a QB. Maybe he'll part ways with the Chiefs and we can finally develop one? That is the hope.

    2) Dwayne Bowe sucked major asshole in yesterday's game. Four dropped passes including a possible game-tying touchdown with time winding down. And after the game he said he thought he played "ok" and wasn't worried about his play at all. Fuck him. Man up to it and say that you had a shitty game. If he was a true #1 receiver (another thing that has never been developed during King Carl's reign), he would have manned up and been disappointed about the game, promising it would never happen again.

    3) The hit wasn't dirty. Pollard had a guy on top of him and was basically held. He was trying to do what he's paid to do in that situation: GET TO THE QUARTERBACK. He got there, and in a freak play he landed on Brady's leg when it was firmly planted into the ground. Split second either way and Brady gets up because he is better situated to take a hit.

1.) Brodie is a glass QB. Ya, I say we play Thigpen and see what he can do. I don't think he is that good, so ya we should draft a QB. Dude from Georgia or that one guy from Wake. Or Tim tebow?

2.)Ya, did he really say he played ok? What a fucking dumbass. He's gotta catch that first ball. What the fuck @ not being able to score with 4 chances from the 5 yard line though. I still think he is damn good though.

3.)Obv that hit was not dirty.

2.)Ya, did he really say he played ok? What a fucking dumbass. He's gotta catch that first ball. What the fuck @ not being able to score with 4 chances from the 5 yard line though. I still think he is damn good though.

3.)Obv that hit was not dirty.
1)tebow will not survive in the nfl. He relies on his ability to rush and you cant do that in the nfl.
    2) D-bowe sucked, looked almost as bad as edwards.
3)Not dirty at all, quit bitching pats.

This broadcast is tilting me so bad. First of all, we could have a huge thread debating if Tirico, Kornheiser or Jaworski is the worst announcer (I would vote Jaworski). Second, Tavaris Jackson is ridiculously bad. Third, why is the scoreboard graphic on the bottom of the screen so damn big? Is that ESPN Monday Night Football bar really necessary? Like that ESPN logo in the bottom right not enough? seriously WTF. Finally, STOP FUCKING TALKING ABOUT BRETT FAVRE ALREADY FUCK.

Jaws and Madden together would be the best announcer team ever.

Madden: That guys got mud on his jersey!
Jaws: Thats the key john, let me break it down for you.......

Mike and Mike and Mike make Jaws and Tirico look good. Greenberg's play by play is really bad. Almost like the crazy fan you get stuck behind occasionally that does all the play by play for his wife the whole game. Terrible.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.

Ha, one of the guys on sports radio here in KC did an 8-team parlay for $10. If all of his teams won he would have won $2600. He was 7/7 and only needed the Vikings to win tonight to cash in big.....poor guy.

I would have hedged 1k or something on the Packers but the dude just let it ride....idiot.

Yeah I hope he is at least average. Wishful thinking ftw! They have a super soft schedule and I think the D will be a bit better and 2 or 3 solid rbs. They could still win 10+.

Pollard or whatever his name was blocked from behind. It wasn't a dirty hit in any way. He still needs to be killed though, I mean, it's Tom Brady.

Never read any stickies or announcements
