    This shit sucks..

But that's how I feel about updates in general for the first week or so.

I hate that at the bottom of a thread you have to click twice to get back to the sub forum you were browsing.

There's no jump to first undead post link which would normally be at the top left of the screen under reply to thread.

oh, hm. i never used this before. i assume it used to default to the subforum you're in and you could click once? i just use my mouse's back button.

may be possible to add a link under that to go back, if it's too inconvenient?

I use the Poker Forum > Community > This Thread nav at the top, so dunno how the quicknav at the bottom used to work either sorry

For one I liked the full width which there doesn't seem to be an option for. Also it seems kinda drab, like it's too grey or something.

Browser's back button is inferior, because you are left with an unrefreshed subforum. If any new posts have been made while you've been reading a long thread, you won't see them bumped. So you still have to click again to truly nav back to where you were. I guess you can also click "TOP" and then click on community there, which is better than an awkward drop down menu. Also, yeah, it definitely seems narrower. Roughly 50% of my widescreen (one of my monitors is still 4:3!... samsung 204b, the original grind station monitor!) is unused. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case before... but maybe it is just more apparent because of the different font, line thicknesses, and other small changes playing tricks on the eye.

Why is there a reply to thread button that only allows you to quick reply on a screen that's already there.

WRT width I'm not sure what people mean - benny's wayback link and the current forum are at the same width for me, but IIRC there was an option a while ago to not move with the times in some way (to fixed width mebbe?) so that could be where the difference lies

hmm, isn't there a CAPTCHA or some other challenge-response test for new members in VB4? Making it a requirement for the first 5 posts would be neat.

adding a full/dynamic width is within the realm of possibilities.

as for being drab, i think a few of the default vb4 colors have leaked through. working on updating everything today to make it more warm.

yeah, mobile was an issue with vb3, now that we have vb4 it is more realistic. can't give a time line atm though.

hm yeah good point about refreshing. i guess it's never bothered me using back. i'll see what we can do about the drop down menu, or maybe adding a "back" link that refreshes the subforum.

yeah, it's the same width, unless you were one who still used the dynamic/full width, which we can add again.

this is how vb4 works now, reply button goes to quick reply by default. at first i was like wtf but i like it now. plus, you can click on "Go Advanced" to see the actual full reply menu if you want. however, if a lot of people hate this we can look into changing it.

The way the button works now is awful.

    Also, just noticed, pagination dips.

you should receive a notification if you have a new PM (unless you turned that off) but i agree i liked it better when it showed how many PMs one had on the main page. will see if we can add that back.

hm, did we used to have a link that showed this? if so, what exactly did it show? (serious question, i never used it.)

if you go to your profile (http://www.flopturnriver.com/pokerfo...rs/Renton.html) and click on "Find all posts" on the left, was it similar to this? that shows all your posts with most recent at the top. if not, how was this page displayed?

it was a link at the top of the all forums page, basically a one click way of seeing if anyone replied to my shit recently

what you're describing sucks because there doesn't appear to be an easy way to access my profile (aside from typing that url) and it doesn't appear that the page you are referring to shows whether a thread has new posts in it or not (with an icon, as before)

Basically every upgrade has made this functionality worse and worse. On the ancient version of the forum, there was a button at the top of the page that literally showed all the last threads you've posted in sorted in order of newest updated. Then the last version had downgraded that button to a smaller link which led to a page that had all the threads you've recently posted in in the order you'd posted in them (as opposed to the order that they'd received updates, the result being that sometimes someone would reply to an older thread I posted in but I never know about it because its way off the first page), and now the functionality is decreased to having to tediously go to my own profile to click the view my own posts button, which leads to a page that doesn't appear to show whether threads have been updated since last I read them.

i'm not suggesting that you go to your profile and click on that link each time as a work around for the link that doesn't exist anymore, i was asking if that was similar to what was here before the upgrade. then i could look into seeing if there is a work around to add a link at the top like before, since this doesn't seem to be a part of vb4 by default.

i think i understand more what you mean though, will look into it.
  73. #73
okay, idk how you crazy fucks think the full/dynamic width looks better and is easier to read than fixed, but if you prefer, the style option FTR Dynamic is there. the default version is FTR Fixed Width but you can change this on the bottom left of any page.

When you're in a sub forum, it just looks cluttered. It seems to work fine but aesthetically it's like dating goldie horn whilst she did botox.

At least change the font back to Verdana please, I find Tahoma to be no more exciting a font, only harder to read.
