    Default week 17 wheeee

well, its the last week this season. the redskins broke my heart for losing to two of the bottom 5 teams in the league, but overall good season. cant wait for the playoffs. THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR!

also this season has given me reason to believe that there is no greater fan than a detroit lions fan.

    1. I would be ok with this. Savage is out though, and I'm elated.
    2. More importantly, it's 2 weeks without a point.
    3. Over the last several weeks, I've been pulling for the Patriots. Indy and NE as the 2 wild cards would make for some great January football.
    4. Lol Detroit Lions; see: Sharpe, Shannon.

So as I sit here and watch the Cowboys get pasted by the Eagles by 41 and counting, I'm thinking what could have been if Lord Jones had just backed off and let Parcells run the show.

Jeff Fisher has to be laughing that he got a draft pick for Adam "Pacman" Jones. The Lions are laughing that they got a 1 and 3 for Roy Williams (maybe that laughter is actually being directed at the Lions).

Then there is the coaching staff and front office that got raided.. Parcells, Sparano, Ireland, etc...

How 'bout dem Cowboys!!! All hype, no heart. Damn, that was sweet to watch. I still hate the Eagles (hate everyone in the division except Big Blue), but hate boys worse.

Tough one with the Jets. I lost $20 to a coworker. Figured a game they had to have at home was a lock. MIA isn't that good, sorry. Great story of worst to first but... Win wouldn't have mattered anyway with Ravens win (me tinks). I hope Favre doesn't retire and stays in NY.

We finish the season with a win! WOOHOO!!! That makes it at least two seasons in a row. And when we win the superbowl next year, it'll make it THREE.

Didn't get home to see the Cowboys game until the score was 44-6. lol @ Cowboys. Oh, adn the Titans scored 0 points? AWESOME...

Too bad I couldn't see the NO/CAR game; sure wish the media would recap that one instead of showing the Eagles/Cowboys recap OVER and OVER again. But oh well.

This denver bronco team was supposed to be a 'dark horse' in the playoffs?

Seriously, put them in a real division and take away a couple of their cheap wins, and this team wins like 4 games.

    I'm here. I'll eat crow.

I still stand behind the idea that with Peyton Hillis getting tough running yards, Denver's a solid team on Offense and can keep the defense from spending 40 minutes on the field in any game.

The Chargers are one hell of a team, and the Broncos are terrible right now.

The Packers were disappointing this year but I am really excited about next year. Rodgers played well, no offseason Favre drama and their problems on the lines are easily fixable.

Seeing Favre flop the last few weeks was sad, but it made me feel vindicated as a Packers fan. Time to retire brett and come on back to the Packers family.

I LOVE seeing the Cowboys implode, and the icing is the crush the Eagles laid on them. Just like a previous post said, lots of talent but no heart; just a bunch of thugs getting paid. Is it just me or does Wade Phillips always look clueless? I put the over under at about three weeks before Pacman Jones bitch slaps a stripper in a strip club and T.O. starts some kind of "look at me" crybaby scandal. Enjoy!

meanwhile the NFC stumbled all over themfuckingselves, and the Eagles squeaked in due to that astronomical failure by the Bears/Bucs/Cowboys.

By NFL Blitz rules (which state that the longer the 4th down conversion, the easier it is to convert among other things) any team you lose to in the regular season is an auto-win in the playoffs.

Therefor, only Baltimore can possibly keep the Steelers from a Superbowl birth!

Favre had a problem with Mangini, but he's gone now so hopefully he stays. If we only get 1 season outta Favre the franchise is in trouble again. Front Office didn't waste time either (a good thing I think) dropping hammer on coach. I think the rush was to keep retirement outta Favre's head. Favre HAS to stay.

DeAngelo "I average five point five yards per carry" Williams may have something to say about Turner and Peterson, imo.

Turner and DeAngelo have a lot more talent around them than AP does.

It really depends on whether you interpret MVP as "player who is most valuable to his team" or "player with the best stats".

If I had to put money on one of those 3 winning the MVP, I would bet on AP, even though the other two have had better years.

Pats fans complaining about 11-5 and missing out is kind of like when Joe Hachem whines about running bad.

great, they were both valuable, im not saying turner didnt matter, im just saying peterson is the ONLY offensive player on the vikings, and you cant say that for the falcons with turner. stop being so stat oriented.

What's the alternative? We released are starting QB to make room for him. He will still put asses in the seats at new stadium. He is still one of the greats. Like he's the only guy to have a not so great season. If he gets away now the entire year was a complete waste. He HAS to come back.

I was thinking about this the other day. It exposes a few stupid quirks about the NFL.

First of all, the divisions are too small from a logistical standpoint. 32 teams in 8 divisions with at least 1 team from each division getting a playoff spot (and at least 1 game at home!!!) is stupid. Of course there are reasons, but it's not in the spirit of good competition.

The two miscellaneous games, for lack of a better term, REALLY suck. For those not familiar with NFL scheduling, each teams plays the 3 other teams in their division twice each (6), lock up with one each of an AFC and NFC division and play all of those teams once (8), and the last two games are played against the team that finished in the same slot the prior year from the 2 remaining divisions in the same conference.

So where the Patriots played the Steelers and Colts (0-2), the Jets played the Bengals and Titans (2-0), the Dolphins played the Ravens and Texans (0-2), and the Bills played the Browns and Jaguars (1-1). Usually the disparity is even greater.. figure in recent memory, the best teams from the 4 divisions have been the Patriots, Steelers, Colts, and Chargers. So focusing still on the Patriots and AFC East, every year the Patriots would have to play the Steelers, Colts, and Chargers, while the other teams in the AFC east would only have to play one of those teams a year (when the entire divisions were locked up). Of course that's not perfectly accurate because those teams don't win the divisions *every* year, but it's close enough for our purposes.

The Patriots lose all my sympathy on the next point.. the AFC east was locked up with the AFC West and the NFC West. El oh el. The Ravens had to play the AFC South and NFC East instead. So sorry Pats fans, I'd argue your team was (ironically) more deserving than the 3 and 4 seeds in the AFC but *NOT* the 5 and 6 seeds.

And most importantly, hopefully the Browns can raid Pioli and McDaniels now. wheeeeeee
