i dont think its stupid, id try to say something like that too for my team's sake.
there are much better things you can say that dont come across as an arrogant prick:
"they outplayed us today, but i feel confident we could beat them next time we play"
just one example out of many. the point is, after you get smacked at home and make an arrogant comment like that, you sound stupid.
