I think oscar probably has the best idea what exactly I'm talking about. Shaving with a brush and a quality cream and a Double Edge (DE) razor might sound really weird, that's what I thought when I first started learning about it. However, people have been shaving like this for years. All of your grandfathers have shaved this way at some point in their lives and this was how everyone shaved from 1900-1960 before the invention of the disposable and cartridge razor. Lots of people think that the 5 bladed razor/canned cream combo is basically a product of marketing and whether or not its actually a superior shaving method is questionable.

I've never tried shaving in the shower but lots of you seem to swear by it so I'll have to try it at some point. After reading through the ball shaving thread I was going to try it anyway lol.


Anyway, I was just curious what people's opinions would be on this topic. I plan to continue shaving this way because I get 0 irritation and the blades cost about $0.40 rather than $4.00/cartridge (plus I enjoy it).

Oscar, I'd suggest giving it another try. Yes, a DE blade is more dangerous and can cut you, but this shouldn't be a problem at all if you're using the right technique. I cut myself a few times when I was first starting but now I get NO cuts at all and I shave every other day.
