Default What should my first legal drink be?

So I turned 19, my parents are taking me to Canada for my birthday dinner, I need to know what I should get as a drink? I am used to just "binge" drinking cheap vodka with pepsi. Cannt really ask my sister because she just drinks girly shit and my parents dont drink. So what should I get?

I'm with you. You gotta make it classy. It's a special occasion. If not go with the Atomic Ball Blaster. That usually does the trick.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?

    Wild Turkey on rocks.

Classy, yet somewhat unrefined. If you aren't used to drinking bourbon straight up you might have some trouble though.

Personally, I like the hard liquor. How about bourbon and coke (Jim Beam if they have it). That one's pretty good. My fav is rum and coke, but not the white rum crap they have here, I like Bundaberg Rum, but that's only from Australia.

Wait a sec'....the dinner's in Canada you say?...okay, then you have to order a Caesar....vodka, Mott's Clamato juice, touches of tabasco and Worchestershire sauce, a slice of lime, a stick of celerey and some seasoning on the rim. Your parents will be impressed with your worldliness, since you can't order these in the US other than in towns that get a lot of Canadian tourists. And they are mega-yummy.

Ok i assume you will be going to a nice place... actually its your birthday you should insist on it. If you want to go with something classy, good, and impress your parents you tell the waiter

"I'll have a johnny walker on the rocks, blue of course"

dont settle for any of that black or red crap.

Maker's Mark is the way to go, although wild turkey is a close second!!!!

If straight bourbon is too strong for you, add a splash of ginger ale. Just thinking about a smooth maker's mark on the rocks gives me a nice warm feeling inside. Guess I have to go to te liquor store now.

Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, or if you prefer something real i would go for a Magners Irish cider in a pint glass filled with ice. Easily the nicest cider on the planet.

    ROFL....

From the good folks at Cadbury Schweppes:

"Okay, now on to the spicy part, about Mott's* Clamato*.

First, a bit about the history of the Caesar: A Canadian creation, the Caesar or Bloody Caesar was invented to celebrate the opening of Marco's Italian restaurant at the Calgary Inn in 1969. Resident mixologist Walter Chell was commissioned to develop this new cocktail. Inspired by the flavours of Spaghetti Vongole (spaghetti with clams), Chell combined sweet (tomato juice), salty (clam nectar), sour (lime), spicy (Worcestershire sauce) and bitter (celery salt) in his new concoction.

After naming the drink for the Roman emperor, legend has it that Chell served one to an Englishman who exclaimed, "That's a good bloody Caesar!"

The Duffy Mott Company knew a good thing when they tasted it. They introduced this fabulous clam and tomato concoction as Mott's* Clamato* in 1969.

Today Mott's* Clamato* is, without a doubt, the essential Caesar mix and can be found on store shelves across Canada. Bloody Caesars are the most popular cocktail in the country, with more than 250 million served up every year."

Windsor, right? Hope you went to Nick's Fish Market. Or Little Italy.
    Or one of the Boats.

Anyways, not too bad a choice of drink.

In general, it's a good idea to settle on a drink. Out drinking w/ your friends is one thing, but when you sit down w/ your professor, your thesis adviser, your boss , potential clients, or even your gf's parents, you need to be able to order a no frills grown-up drink before dinner, no hesitation.
7/7 is my classic, because its a better appertif than anything & coke.
Johnny Walker & Soda on the rocks w/ lemon is another nice one.

I still don't understand why anyone drink crap that taste like shit. You don't look cool because you drink scotch.

(the 5% that actually like scotch and drink it, please ignore)

For me, I'll have a glass of water, extra ice, please.
  63. #63
I really enjoy scotch. It's not about looking cool.
It really bugs me when someone buys me a scotch in a bar and then expects the shooting to commence. No offense, but...
If a drink is good enough to drink, it's good enough to taste.
Save the shots for your jell-o, or your tequila, or god save you, your schnapps.

Zach, strongbow was a good choice, nice and simple.

I like both dry and sweet ciders but dry is the best.

My first drink was a "turbo shandy" get 1pt of stella down half of it. Fill up the glass with a bottle of smirnoff ice and enjoy.

5 of them and you are on your arse.

What was everyone elses 1st legal drink??

First drink: I was 16, playing drums for a decent rock band at the time. Hanging out at the (older) singers place with some cute girls. It was a saturday night.

    Mistake 1) I drank corona
    Mistake 2) I drank 11 of them
    Mistake 3) I threw up
    Mistake 4) On his bed
Mistake 5) And in my shoes.
    Not-so-mistake 6) And outside
Mistake 6) I watched his dog roll in it
Mistake 7) And let his sister pick up said dog afterward.
Mistake 8) I "woke up" and went to church in the morning with his family
Mistake 9) Passed out in church.
