    Default What are your politics?

Seeing how the religion thread is going so well, here's another conversational third rail question.

Me, I'm socially wet and fiscally dry.

centralist according to that american thingymajiggy

As a politics student i am leniant in many areas of social development but hardline on criminality and other related issues.
I.e If your religion conflicts with the rules of the state you are deported on the grounds that you cannot abide by your side of the government-citizen social contract and therefore are ineligible to live in the state structure.

Surprised to see so many libertarians, thats how I would align myself. Personally, I am socially liberal, live and let live sort of attitude. I really dont care what you do as long as it doesnt affect me or anybody else directly in a non-consentual situation. I would also consider myself fiscally conservative. I feel the government spends way too much money on random shit. It also isnt even what they spend the money on, but moreso how they spend it. If I had to pick a major political party it would be the democrats, but for the time being Im an unenrolled voter [ie. independet]

EDIT: I personally think this is a better site for a political test, as it accurately models 2 axes - http://www.politicalcompass.org/

    Your political compass
    Economic Left/Right: -1.13
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.15

So in terms of the standard right/left political spectrum, Im slightly left of center, but looking at libertarian/authoritarian Im very libertarian

Pretty middle ground - leaning to libertarian probably because of the questions on sex, religion, and drug use.

I consider myself republican fiscally and democratic/libertarian socially. I am registered independent.

I'm pretty liberal socially... as I kind of have to be to get along with most of the people I compete against in figure skating competitions and I see a LOT of people with different lifestyle choices than my own. I couldn't really care less about sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or any of that as long as they don't try to put it on me. (which is why I slam the door on the Baptists and Jehovah's Witnesses that come around my apartment complex all the time)

I feel the exact same way at my hand modeling classes. There are people from all walks of life there, and you just have to be a totally open person.

I know an old man who likes to debate these people at the door. Gets quite riled up. They leave pretty fast.

Heh... I usually just say "I've already been enlightened, thank you." when they try to convince me that I'm not happy with my life and shut the door.
