I quit my job and have been freelancing. Now I do actual work maybe one week a month, and the rest I just do what I like which normally means investigating and acting on ways to make/save money that don't sound like a chore, working on personal projects, skill acquisition/improvement, and life/work maintenance.

I really think some people just aren't wired for 9-5 work. I'd do it again if things got dire, but the roller coaster of freelancing is much preferable to the mundane perpetuity of the typical job.
