    Default where do I go

Three friends and I are trying to decide where to go for three weeks in May. They are broke college students who don't want to spend more than $1500 including airfare, want good weather, and want somewhere not in the western hemisphere.

We were going to do Thailand/SE Asia but there is some political shit and bad weather that deterred us.

Eastern Europe maybe? Africa? At this point I've no idea

I don't know if you'd be able to do europe for 3 weeks for 1500 bucks. I think your best bang for your buck would be mexico. I'm not sure when hurricane season is but that could be the only downside to mexico if it's around then.

oh and I'll give some FTP or Stars money if I pick one of your suggestions

You can def. do Europe on $1500. I spent $1500 in 6 weeks. Stay in hostels, get a bus or rail pass if you want to move around and, since you're a student, definitely go here for your flight:

Travel Cuts is SOOOOOO good for student travel. If you want to hit a country people don't normally talk about but is really beautiful, try Slovenia and stay on the coast. Italy is right there if you want to do a side trip. Czech Republic and Hungary are cheap and really nice as well.

You def cannot do Europe for 1.5k... Airfaire to eastern europe should be about 1k? That leaves you 500$ for food/travel/visits/spending. Sure stuff there is cheap but traveling on that kind of budget will take some fun out of it.
Nine to five is how to survive - I ain't trying to survive / I'm trying to live it to the limit and love it a lot //

Can offer RB deals on most sites, PM me.

Super Cheap, good booze, warm as hell, surrounded by rainforest.

And you go to the home of the worlds best waxed based invention ever.

    Can't go wrong.

You lie so hard. I did it.

With Travel Cuts, you can score a flight from New York to Paris for $200 round trip. TGV to wherever for $100 more. You just need an International Student Card.

Hostels for students are like $20/night per person.

Costa Rica. I spent 3 weeks there in January, it was really good. Flight roundtrip was like $450, food is real good and cheap, beer is pretty cheap. Good beaches, great weather, surfing, jungles, and its pretty stable for Central America, central timezone so jetlag is not too bad for people coming from US. Might be hot as shit in May though.

Ok, maybe in 1995. Hostels price is correct though. Just sayin, even if its technically possible to "do it" within budget, you'll be missing out on a lot of things and not have as much fun.

Agree w/ South America or Mexico as a better choice

More details required about what kind of holiday you're after.

    Sun? Fun? Bum? My Mum?

lol, no, I got that price right from the Travel Cuts site. The other part is true though.

Wherever you go, hostels are super cheap, usually clean and you'll meet lots of girls travelling alone or in packs.

Eastern Europe can be pretty cold in May. Still beautiful though. Croatia has an amazing coastline and very freindly. Interesting not so distant history as well. you can still see the bullet ravaged buildings.
Czech Rep is great and Hungary (good wines, if you like heavy reds).

For Africa, Tunisia is very accesable - good food and great beaches.

Slovenia isnt expensive, the baltic states arent bad (tho the weather isnt amazing), lake balaton area is prob ur best pick for eastern europe.

I heard you can get around in India fairly cheap and have a great time, especially the Islands are beautiful. Friend of mine went to Goa for two weeks and had a very simple bungalow at the beach side for $1/day

Definitely South America on your budget. Argentina or Brazil.

Having eastern europe right around the corner, I would suggest something else.
Central europe would be hard for that budget. €350 for a week... if you eat canned food and travel by bus, maybe.
Temperature can vary anywhere between 10 and 43°C

Benny, if you were here 5 or more years ago, or even before the € you can't expect the dollar prices to be anywhere close.

I think the lesson here is I'm super low maintenance compared to some.

Don't go to sit down restaurants and don't go to clubs (ridic cover charges and expensive drinks) and you'll be fine and drunk for 3 weeks.
