I don't follow College Hoops nearly enough, and due to the random nature (everyone's heard stories about some girl picking teams based on colors who wins the pool)... I only pick brackets via a weighted random number generator that I made. Consequently my bracket has a good chance of looking wetarded... this is the reason.
So you click their picture and then you get their money?

Good Luck GrandMasterB! I was in Vegas during part of the 1995 tournament when UCLA won it all. It is a lot of fun watching March Madness in sportsbooks, people really get into the games when they have money on them.

The madness has started. 6th seeded Oklahoma losing to the 11th seed was a little bit of an upset.

How about double OT for BC baby!
I needed that 2nd OT for the cover, too!

And, I see that a few FTR'ers have BC going deep. Boy would that have screwed their brackets.

Where Sharkaby comes from is unimportant. What matters is that wherever Sharkaby is, Sharkaby is the boss. Sharkaby lives in the depths of your mind and between your couch cushions. Sharkaby is your neighbor, your kid's coked up elementary school principal, your future nursing home caregiver. Sharkaby is your dream and your nightmare.

    Sharkaby needs no explanation.

You're fine - right in the middle of the pack - like having a just above avg chip stack at the first break.
Besides, FTD had Syracuse going deep, JM took a flyer on the Zags, and I think I may have spotted a fatal flaw among another current leader's picks...

Not really, the most important part of the first round is not losing any of your elite 8/final 4 teams.

I like how GrandMasterB didn't finish filling out his bracket. Nice.

Yea, he's still tied for first but I guess that is temporary...

More upsets today, #3 seed Iowa is history along with #4 seed Kansas.

Ya, that hurts. I was thinking that was a nice pick too.

Some real nice pickin in the first round from the leaders. I'm just hoping this weekend sends out 2/3 of the Zags, Dookies, and Nova - then things will get interesting...

We're down to the sweet 16. All the #1 seeds have survived but we've lost half the #2 seeds in Ohio State and Tennessee. We've also lost half the #3 seeds in North Carolina and Iowa and half the #4 seeds in Kansas and Illinois. It has been a horrible tournament for the Big 10, all their teams are out.

Here's how our FTR group looks:

    holy shit, Duke is toast.

I had them in the final 4 but not the finals (Memphis beats them in my bracket).
  53. #53
Duke going out sets a lot of folks back, if only a little.
Looks like it gave the biggest boost to WildBob, who not only called LSU but has picked the Atlanta region just about perfect so far. Might just help him overcome a run of the mill 11 of Sweet 16 and the loss of Kansas...

Damn Texas for fooling me into thinking they were tourney-killers.
From that 1st game with Penn, to needing OT against WVU, they just weren't all the way there.
I'd say it doesn't bode well for UConn, who's had a similar tourney. Sure, they have the depth that Texas lacked to get them through. But that depth is double-edged, since their players sometimes look out of sorts with all the different rotations.
  59. #59
dammit Uconn.... way to re-ruin my bracket

LOL. B is going to win, even without filling out the final game.
Kingnat did have UCLA in the championship, but I don't know if Yahoo will award him enough points to catch him all the way up.
That is too funny - winning without even completing the brackets...

haha Kingnat will tie me if UCLA makes it to the finals. God would i love to win something in brackets this year.

Kingnat i got an idea. Since this is a poker forum, if we do tie instead of using the final score for a tiebreak i say we play a heads up poker tourney for the $25. We can just do a $5 or $10 heads up SNG to determine the winner. Just a thought. What do you think?

In my work pool after fridays games i was going to be in the money 50% of the time and win the thing 20% of the time. Now i have 0% chance of being in the money. And the people who are going to win are people who were at the bottom of the leaderboard the whole way. One lady told me she just randomly chose LSU to win it all(she dosnt even watch college BB). And another one chose UCLA because she likes their colors... figures.

Yea, this year the madness is crazier than ever. I'm in another pool with similar issues. ESPN was saying how few people had the right teams in their pool too.

Who do you guys like to win the whole thing? Here's the odds I saw in Vegas:
    Florida: 8 to 5
    LSU: 5 to 2
    UCLA: 5 to 2
    George Mason: 7 to 1 or 8 to 1 (don't remember which)
  66. #66
I was thinking about putting the same about on LSU and UCLA... i think whoever wins that game wins it all. since you can get 5-2 and some places 3-1 on both you will still come out ahead.

Congrats! This was a crazy year and your non-conventional picks won it! Seeing as there were no #1 seeds in the final 4, the brackets that looked the most "normal" at the start didn't do so well.

As a UCLA alum I am somewhat upset tonight because I wish they could have won just one more game. That said, reaching the final game was a tremendous achievement for their young team, especially coming back to beat Gonzaga.

No, they're not quite equal. Yahoo placed FTRKingNat 1st and GrandMasterB 2nd in the rankings even though they had the same number of points. I think this is because FTRKingNat filled in a score for the tie-breaker but GrandMasterB left the final score blank.

Maybe next year we can use HU matches instead of the final score tie-breaker but we'd have to announce that in advance to be fair.
