    Default Zack Greinke

Read an article about him today. I've always seen quotes from him from press conferences and he seems like such an odd guy.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_yl...yhoo&type=lgns

After reading this the guy appears to be a full on Pretender. After this article he's def one of my favorite players, I'm going to be watching him on my mlb.tv.

He's been getting BS ump calls tonight, allowed 2ER in 4IP breaking his streak.
    Check out the new blog!!!

I watched this game, I guess that's how I missed the thread the first time around.

The guy is an amazingly talented pitcher. Freaking ridiculous.

The guy is amazingly strange, too. His sound-bytes on sports-talk radio here in town are hilarious. They used to talk all the time (and still do occasionally) about him being on "Planet Zack." Whereas every other major league player spouts off one-liners and cliches, he just says whatever is in his brain and usually it's.....strange stuff.

What he is doing right now is unreal, only two other players in the history of the game have won their first six starts with an ERA 0.40 or lower. He's about as un-hittable as they come. I'm glad he's in Kansas City and is getting some love, but this guy would be an unreal phenomenon if he played for NY/BOS/LA etc.

He actually has a social anxiety disorder. It's part of the reason why he sucked at first and part of the reason why he's a little weird. But once he got diagnosed, blammo. Dude is awesome.

Thanks, but I live in Kansas City so have known about this for quite some time now. He's only 25 years old but we (Royals fans) have seen quite a few highs and lows with this guy. I'm glad he's got most, if not all, of his problems worked out.

Yeah, I remember this one time at band camp when Zack quit and said he was gonna be a pro golfer. I also remember the time he grooved all fastballs all game just to see what would happen. Good times.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.

LOL, the fastball story is a classic Zack-moment (before he got help). I don't remember the details exactly or who our manager at the time was (Buddy Bell?), but it went something like this:

-- Manager tells Greinke he's going to pitch in a meaningless spring training game even though he's ready to start the season.
-- Greinke tells the coach he's ready to go and doesn't need the work.
-- The coach says bullshit you're pitching, go to work.
-- Greinke pitches and all but says fuck you coach while throwing BP fastballs the whole time.
-- The coach is furious and all but says fuck you back, stay in the game, take your beating, I don't care.
-- Greinke basically says fuck you right back by continuing to throw BP fastballs the whole time and gets absolutely ROCKED.

Greinke, after the game, tells reporters he just didn't have his best that day but he tried his best (in the way that only HE can say it). Everyone sees right through it and chalks it up to "Zack being Zack."

I'm going to the game Friday night. Greinke pitching, buck night, fireworks night.....40,000+ will be there me thinks.

Yep, my father-in-law snapped up the customer tickets for Friday's game. I did manage to weasel the Cards game on June 20th though. Agreed, will be a party in the standing room areas. Wish I were going.

May have been a late, wet night, but worth it I'm sure if you wanted to see a pitching performance from the best pitcher in MLB right now.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.

it was awesome, he just does what he wants to on the mound. glad I got to see him pitch, I'm sure I'll check him out a few more times this year. let me know if you ever want to catch a game sometime, I'll have some time off this summer being a teacher and all, lol.

the game didn't start until 9:40, so that kind of sucked. The wife and I had another couple with us that weren't too happy about going that late, but I think they had a good time too. the whole crowd was kind of like them, not really into the game....hopefully someday soon a true playoff caliber team will develop so it's not just me losing my voice in the stands.

and as a side note, I was pisssssssed, they cut off alcohol sales at 11pm. It was in like the top of the fourth, supposedly that's always been the rule but nobody's ever told me about it
