But ya, the issue with the lone badass is that there is always the temptation and the pressure from the audience to lift the veil, and this pressure is even greater in an ongoing series. Yet once the veil is lifted, the level of badassery drops several magnitudes, unless it is handled with great tact and care. It could be fucking awesome in a 5 season run to have the group get slaughtered in the s04 finale, then in season 5 completely shift the pace/feel/scope of the show by lifting the veil and focusing on our lone ranger...

I spent a great deal of time wanting to be a writer, but I could never do it due to it being way too frustrating. Maybe I could now if I tried again, but as a teenager, it didn't matter how good something I wrote was, I would find every little flaw and think it was shit within a week
