    just how old are you?
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

Old enough to think the mullet, and the Kirt Hammet pornstache would never go out of style.

You have to give Aerosmith props for being highly successful though, considering how bad they are.

Couldnt agree more. Being young doesnt mean you cant like good music. Although a lot of people here seem to think it does.

    True story:

A couple of years back Aerosmith came to town with Lenny Kravitz and my gf scored tickets through work. I've never been an Aerosmith fan by any stretch but was all over a chance to see Lenny live, so we go.

We get to the arena and the stage is set-up at one end with a centre catwalk and a catwalk off each side, so the musicians can walk into and interact with the crowd. Our seats are just one row back from the end of one of the side catwalks.

So Lenny comes on and puts on a great show, but all through his act the seats in front of us sit empty. Then, after Lenny is done, a couple of stagehands in Aerosmith t-shirts escort a gaggle of skanky looking girls into the seats in front of us. They're all OMG THIS IS SO COOL and texting their friends and taking cellphone pics etc., then Aerosmith comes on.

The show progresses and then Steve Tyler makes his way down the catwalk and plays to these girls. He's all dressed in black and dripping jewelry and basically looks like a vampire, he's so rough looking. Life as a rock star can be hard on the bod, I guess. He's about a dozen feet away from me, we make eye contact for a few seconds and all I can think of is how many times he must've played the song before, while he's probably thinking WTF is this old fart doing here.

Anyway, show goes on, Steve makes his way back down the catwalk to us again and this time the girls in front of us are going crazy. Steve grinds his crotch in the railing and stuff and these girls are reaching up and grabbing and stroking him, a couple of them gives him their cellphones which he takes and tucks away, etc. etc. All through I'm pretty amused.

What I didn't realize though is that throughout all this there was a video camera behind Steve getting shots of it all and feeding it up to the big screens in the arena - which we couldn't see because we were directly to the side of the stage. Yeah, I'm in the shot for most of the time.

Next day I go to work and my phone starts ringing off the hook. Apparently I had quite the range of expressions on my face throughout all this, none of which could possibly be construed as fandom, and entertained the entire arena, including a bunch of people that knew me. They all thought it was pretty funny.

    Good times.

Lol. It's always hilarious to me that there are old people on these forums. You guys are all so immature I forget that a lot of you are middle age.

Who are these bands? I don't listen to rock that has been made after ~1990, and the few decent songs after 1980, are at best, sketchy. Areosmith has Dream On, which isn't a horrible song, but aside from that every other song they have is really annoying. I would have realized they sucked a lot sooner had I not have gotten The Rolling Stone songs mixed up with them, which is a huge insult to The Rolling Stones.

Well I like Aerosmith, and I Like ZZ Top, but I would have a hard time spending 40 bucks on them to see them live.

Just IMAGINE how burned out these dudes are. Seriously man, like... whoa.. I forgot what I was saying.

Anyway. I was just trying to start a joke. You can be as old as you wanna be TC you're cool. Just an FYI tho. Those guys... are not.

    --edit.

Also I'm going to be going to a Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Colt .45 concert EOM. Does this make me a hypocrite? No... Because I'm not pumped about it. I'm just lookin' forward to a good time with my dad... who's really old, and who listened to ZZ top and Aerosmith when I was really young.

Actually some Live ZZTop would probably be pretty cool.

Fandango > All the rest IMO.
