Well fuck, I (basically) blinded out in 8th for $36. It was fun, I hope we gain some new members from it. Big ups to Swiggs for helping a limit donkey out.

Thanks again to the X man for setting it up. I hope your ass didn't just hook me on MTT's. That shit can get the heart going!

Thanks a ton for setting this all up.
Even better than the $ though, was knocking Warpe out.
Warpe, you worked me so hard on tha Doyles Room tourney...
    Sry, but revenge is sweet.

    Thanks again FTR

    Good job.

I don't know why more regulars don't play these. They're way too much fun to pass up.

Yes! MTTs are loads of fun. Now you know why it's more enjoyable for a lot of people than the cash games. It's a nice break from the grind of the ring.

You playing in the Gauntlet this season?

I will be as long as my roll can stand it man. I think I might transfer my RB from UB to PS. Along with this small cash that could do it. I know I am dead money but I could luckbox my way in.

I really enjoyed playing with swigs and Warpe tonight. Two really good guys.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the freeroll.

Next month's should be bigger once folks see our ad in the February issue of Bluff Magazine.
  10. #85
wait who won? and i basically want to cry because i forgot about it, sorry guys, hopefully next month
  11. #86
    I (VOTEQUIMBY) took it down.

I played a $50 freeroll earlier yesterday on Absolute just for kicks to see their structure since I play most of my tourneys at Stars. Finished 2/2000 for a whopping $8. Headsup opponent rivered/turned me 3 times to win.

I didn't think that a 68 player tourney would take 4 hours. My wife wasn't too pleased when I crawled into bed at 2 am.

Thanks to Xianti for setting this up.

On another note, the payout bumped me over the $10K profit mark.

Would it not help, to have to be registered 3 months before the announcement of the freetroll. How about not calling it a freeroll, maybe an FTR private tourney. No one is trying to keep legitimate players out X, it's just alot, I bet 95% of the players registering, never come back. Most of those, act like you owe them cause it's "free" and don't give a fuck about you, FTR or posting in the forums. to give $750 to these freeroll specialists is a waste of time and money, and does nothing to give back to the regulars of the site. I also would be willing to bet, with most of the trollers out, more regulars would play. Last time I played in one, none of my three tables had an FTR member on it, but they all knew each other, as noted in the table chat.

Yeah, the blind increases were slow and I think the money is big enough for people to take this fairly seriously given the small field.
  16. #91
The blind increases weren't that slow...
A lot of us spent the last hour or 2 with less than 10 BB.
I think what you said about the $ amount is true though Warpe.
Made me think twice about pushing on several occasions.

We had a lot of phrases last night, that one could me mine or swigs.

    Trollaments
    Chopaments
    Fronkaments
    Lolminbetriveraments

The funny thing about this is that no one besides me, warpe, swigs, and prolly cheese knew what in the hell we were talking about. I think that illustrates the fact that there weren't many regs playing and that the other players were not even trolls, just freetrollers.
  19. #94
The min-post rule is IMHO unfair. I don't have alot of posts because I spend most of my time reading cause I am trying to learn the game. Since I am learning I don't have anything intelligent to say about someone elses posts. All I really want out these freerolls is an oppurtunity to play with the people who make FTR a great poker site and try to draw some insights from playing at the same table without losing my shirt.
  20. #95
Under my three month rule, you would qualify fro the FTR private tourney.

We have begun adding player IDs to the February 15 freeroll at Absolute. Currently, 203 players have been added.

Register your Absolute Poker login ID at http://www.flopturnriver.com/Abs.html if you have not already.

Be sure to do this at least 72 hours prior to the event date. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made. Please DO NOT send private requests to be added at the last minute. Such requests will be ignored.
  34. #109
I think being a registered member of FTR for a certain amount of time would be a good idea aswell. 3 months isnt really that long to be a member. I dont have the big of a post count either but have been a memb3er for awhile. This would also give an incentive for people to register to FTR.

Beat the 72 hour cutoff. It is good to see poker forums still be able to get poker sites to pony up some money for tourneys. It remains a pity that poker had to change so in Fall 2006 when the feds got involved, allowing poker sites to stop catering to a now captive audience.

We are now within 72 hours of the Feb 15 Freeroll so the list of players has been updated.

If you missed this one then make sure you register on the http://www.flopturnriver.com/Abs.html page at least 72 hours prior to the Mar 15 freeroll. No exceptions. Thanks.
  41. #116
I looked through the player list and noticed that there are some players using two different names to play.... Anything able to be done about that?
  42. #117
Yea I noticed that too dsmrolla06, there are a couple in there with multiple names that I know of. I've played on AP long enough to know who some are. You watch there will be a few people going Allin right at first with lousy hands just hoping to get lucky if they bust out they will just get on as another name. Not sure what can be done about this stuff.
  43. #118
For some reason I thought if you entered the first one you were on the list for all of them Guess I'll have to wait til March

I have to confess this run is hilarious. Thanks for the entertainment and good luck with the forum and you might need more luck with AP.

They claim they are going to do better in the future but when I asked them when and how.....the silence was deafening.

This might be because Absolute made an exception. They opened things up to everyone who used the http://www.flopturnriver.com/Abs.html registration by 7pm ET today(despite the normal 72 hour rule).

    Hi Everybody,

Absolute confirmed that when list of players was refreshed at about 7pm ET today it "booted" players who had previously registered. Many players were able to re-register in time but obviously many were not.

Here are the exact words from Absolute:
We believe that you are correct. The problem occurred when the list of players was refreshed so close to the tournament starting time. In order to avoid these type of complications in the future, we should stop refreshing the list at least 72 hours prior the start of the event.
The March 15 tournament will not have this problem because the final list will not be refreshed again so close to the starting time(it will be done 72 hours prior).

We are very sorry about this. I asked Absolute what they can do to make up for it and they are still working on a resolution.

Why can't people just follow instructions? I knew making exceptions to the 72-hour cutoff was a bad idea.

For those of you that registered in time but got bumped, we are terribly sorry about this. We will not make any more such last-minute adjustments to the player roster.

Seriously though, FTR represented this time. Spenda, dsmrolla, finished 1st and 2nd. I bubbled 11th I think barely missing the money.

To those watching from home, almost 1/2 the total money went to two people who study the game!!!. Congrats guys

    Wow wow wow.

I had a guy at my table (who beat me with a bad bad river card) complaining about all the other people who were entered in tourney and how they were all cheating etc...

I said "Have you ever posted on FTR?"

And it shut him right up.

    Interesting technique.

I asked my table if they keep their luckbox in good shape with a water based or silicon based lube. I prefer silicon.

    That shut them up
