SunPoker.com is set to make the transition to the iPoker network as soon as next week. The tentative date for this switch will begin on December 18, 2008 and will be fully complete by January 1, 2009.

What does this mean for FTR members?

This means you want to sign up AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Why? The iPoker network does not allow rakeback. Instead, they will be using a VIP Loyalty Program. This has certain levels you can move up in, increasing your status and benefits, including exchanging points for cash. Essentially, this is a rakeback equivalent, and the next best thing.

The current deal with FTR gives all members 30% rakeback automatically through SunPoker. If you already have an account at SunPoker through FlopTurnRiver before the switch takes place, you will be permanently placed in the level 4 Mercury tier for their new VIP Loyalty Program. There are only 5 tiers total, so current players will have a very nice permanent boost!

If you sign up after the switch, you will begin at tier 1 just like everybody else. You will then have to play and earn a minimum of 120,000 points per month to maintain your Mercury status.

So if you sign up NOW you will have a huge advantage over other players and will always be at least on the Mercury level. Current players will earn the same rate as they always have. You can also play and move up to level 5, which is called Sun, and earn more benefits!
