    Cowboys: Pocket Kings

    Yea Xianti, add them. Add them!

    Add them now or I'm walking out and never coming back!

    OK, so sometimes when I don't understand things, I tend to get defensive of them.

    Where will these be added to? The forum? This web site? Our vocabulary? Please explain.
    I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...

    Hump, on the FTR home page, there is a link down on the left for Poker Lingo where two hands (Big Slick and Big Chick) are named. I think that's what he's talking about...

    Little Slick - A2

    There's a lot of more dorky nicknames for specific hole cards, but I don't think you need them all.

    Player types: (since you already have maniac)
    Calling Station
    Fish
    Shark
    Rock
    Bubble Boy (the definition of this one should just read "Fishstick")

    We all know the gay waiter (Q3). I call Q3s the maitre'd - that's a gay waiter in a suit.

    Now that I read the page, you're missing a lot of hole card names.....

    Good Buddy - 10 4
    Brunson - 10 2
    Motown - J 5
    Ducks - 2 2
    Dolly Parton - 9 5

    These are all the non-obvious ones I can think of. Lucky Ladies, Cowboys, etc I'll leave to you guys....

    For 69s, I prefer "prom night."

    88 is snowmen

    And maybe naming out the player positions would be helpful (maybe just for me?) I understand BB= big blind, LB= little blind, UTG under the gun just to left of BB, but the others can be confusing (again, maybe just for me?)

    CO = Cut Off
    T5 = Woolworths, not sure if it has to be suited ?
    AJ = Ajax
    88 = I like to call 2 fat ladies

    Also BB has to meanings
    1 - Big Blind
    2 - Big Bet

    i.e. in Limit 2/4 a small blind will be 1, a big blind 2 and a big bet 4. If someone said you need 300 BBs to play at this table they would be refering to Big Bets.

    This makes a lot more sense now. I didn't understand he was refering to the poker lingo page. Thanks koolmoe.

    Actually, with all the hand nicknames, it may even dictate it's own page just for starting hand nicknames.

    KQo = Doyle Brunson (named as a joke because he never plays this hand)
    Also
    T2 = Doyle Brunson (because he won 2 WSOPs with this hand)
    77=Walking Sticks
    55=Speed limit / Presto
    66=Route 66

    Also, it would be useful to some to put definitions for position
    SB
    BB
    UTG
    CO
    MP
    etc.
    I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.

    There are some more obscure ones too.

    some of those are horrible and make little sense

    :edit: btw, Set should be in the for 3 of a kind/trips

    ok "nicknames" are made for fun and poker knowledge like chip tricks. theres no real reason for them its just fun and shows your experience. just because you think its horrible means you dont understand the reason for the nickname and should find out so you can enjoy these names not gripe

    Also nicknames came about as a way to remember what cards you have so you don't have to keep looking at them. Which can be used as a way to judge an opponents hand strength. (Pro's and Con's to that approach)

    Remembering what you got gives you more time to study your opponents reactions to thier cards.

    right, but when it's a page on poker lingo- all the hand names aren't used on a regular basis besides a few, and when half of the names are situational, players would be better off making their own names for random hands like that.
