Chatroom?

How about an FTR IRC channel with some lame web client off the FTR home page?

yeah thats a great idea, we could have somewhere to hang and it sure would make playing each other and FTR showdowns easier to organise.

It'll be great for rookies like myself (i don't call myself fish anymore LOL), but probably lots of baggage for the experienced players. I can only imagine all the questions i will be asking... 8-)

It may be a browser issue. I run a mac, and most of the pc users dont take us into consideration.

You're right. Well... the problem is both. It's an issue with the browser on the Mac. I tried it with Mozilla on my Mac at work. I get this message after logging into the Chat Room:

Database error: Invalid SQL: UPDATE phpbb_c_users SET u_time = 1091754318 WHERE room = 'Default' AND name = 'xianti'
MySQL error: 1054 (Unknown column 'name' in 'where clause')
Session halted.


It works fine in Windows, though.

I went back, and that is the same error i got. The first time i just glanced quickly and thought it was a php error.

Tyson, Eric and I are unfamiliar with IRC and we don't know how to set it up... which is why we were testing the phpBB chatroom mod.


Anyone care to educate us? How do we set up an IRC channel? What apps do we need?

Download an IRC client www.mirc.com you then need to decide whether you want to share an already used server or have a private server.

You then need to register a room with chanserv or something similar and could leave a Bot in there for op status and stuff if they dont already provide one.

Wants its set up I can slap everyone around with Trout

As an example I have opened a room named flopturnriver on the server undernet.

To access the channel join server Undernet.

Then type /join #flopturnriver

Because the room isn't registered it will dissappear once I leave.

WOW this is a great idea, I will most definetly be on mIRC all the time if this idea is implemented!!!

We (admins) just have to set aside some time to learn it and set it up.

I like to chat while I play which usually leads to smack talk when someone gets annoyed, would be nice to chat to people I know oppsed to Idiots on PP . . .

we could also play H2H against each other more easily :P
