Flaming

First off, great site, great forum, this place is the nuts. However I have started to notice flaming here and there. This flaming is smart ass replies all the way too flat out name calling and beyond. The site is to provide “friendly and intelligent poker community” and it seems to me that these smart ass replies start the ball rolling towards the full out flaming. Personally have not been on the receiving of any flaming, but I have seen it in posts I have posted in.

Anyway, if you need me to point a finger I will.

Again “this place is the nuts”.

I think your request is beyond unreasonable, given this very fact.

I disagree with Renton. We have a no-flaming policy. I don't think it's an unreasonable request.

Okay, so I’m the Supergrass now (another cool band). But it is not unreasonable considering how few flamings there are here. Nice one picking up DVDA, you watch too much South Park.

I just think its a little bland to have a forum that doesn't include at least some wise cracking and fun.

The only thing close to flaming in that thread was Jiggus calling someone Capt. Dingleballs. He also went on to say he was saying things as constructive criticism not to flame.

I won't allow blatant flaming - especially in the Beginner's Section. But if you can't have a thick enough skin to deal with the very minor joking name-calling than you aren't really looking for advice. You are looking for praise and reassurance - and this is not, and should not be the site for that.

We all need a good kick in the ass sometimes.

Trying to say you can't beat the micro-limits deserves a good kick in the ass.

If you're going to rock the name, at least be up on its origin. It started with the movie Orgasmo. Do a google search for 'dvda wikipedia'.

So, “minor” name calling is okay? “an arrogant bastard” and” immature twat” is acceptable? The other guy was asking for it! I can live with this name calling, I use much worse myself but did not see this forum as a platform to use my advance language skills.

I missed the "arrogant bastard" and "immature twat" comments. I'll post about inappropriate comments. The funny thing is that the guy (weeian) who did the flaming here is the guy who started the thread... And then instead of getting reassurance was told he was wrong. He just became overly defensive when the majority told him he was wrong.

I am all for an active, friendly, advice giving forum, and I hope my posts display this. On the other hand, when someone is wrong - they are wrong.

At one point I posted my then theory that it was better money wise to buy in once in a rebuy tourney and just treat it like a freezeout and I was reamed much as weeian was - but looking back the reaming was correct. And I never got smarmy in response. I stated my view and then argued - that's what this site is all about.

And as Forrest Gump said - "and that's all I have to say about that."

It is a disgrace that many veteran FTR members make posts of this nature regularly.

I'll deal with this matter when I return from Costa Rica.

There are some that need warnings. And some that need demotions.

And some that need to have a little humor.
