    Default Forum Improvements Thread

There used to be a thread a while back like this, so I'll be keeping a track in here of some of the improvements and fixes which we are making to the forum:

    - Forum rules updated
    - Standardized stickied threads, one rule thread and one digest with highlighting
    - All PMs will now be saved to Sent Messages folder
    - View Forum Leaders page fixed
    - Qualified Members club; membership required to access FTR tournament passwords
    - New badges for Moderators, Administrators and Qualified Members
    - Maximum size of signatures made smaller
    - New PM for new members with link to Welcome Thread
    - New season of the Gauntlet - here
    - Fixed width for forums

    Coming soon:

    - New freerolls/added money events
    - Remove avatars/signatures for Safe For Work browsing
    - Integration with FTR's poker room deals

If you have any suggestions or bug reports please post them in this thread!

What changes will there be to the avatars/sigs? I generally have them disabled for NSFW purposes, but that seems like enough of a solution to me. Otherwise I like having them there.

The only improvement I could see would be if Avatars/sigs could be flagged as NSFW so that we could have the option to display SFW but not NSFW.
  3. #3
We're going to introduce a toggle button to display/not display at the bottom of every page to save going into the User CP each time and to make the option better known. We're also going to decrease the maximum height of signatures so they take up less space.

I don't think we'll be able to tag specific avatars or signatures but I'll keep it in mind as something to look into in the future!

    Sounds good! Thanks!

I was going to ask the same thing once before until I found it myself in the middle of the page.
Perhaps it isn't clear and would be more intuitive at the top of the page.

btw I just discovered multiquote didn't work and had to do it manually.

    Multiquoting should be fixed

Update - we've made the maximum size of signatures smaller to make threads easier to read. Images you post which are too big will be automatically resized.

why is there no chat box ? it's always nice to chat with people from the site , i know that at times it would get busy from new people but it will seem to benifit to ask questions on chat box rather to post it and wait till it gets replyed thou .

    crazzvette
  15. #15
Hi crazzvette, good question. The reason we don't have a chat box is that we would rather people post questions in threads so that other people who may have the same question will be able to see the answer. The chat box would mean we lose these answers and only one person would benefit instead of all our members and guests!

just to clearify a bit about this , it seems that all new players posting all over again like i am . all starting from 0 , has to endur this verification process untill they reach 15 post , since i reached that point , it hasn't returned .

I'm looking into our current new user requirements and we'll see if we can improve them in some way

Maybe you should spend more time thinking about your posts and decide if they are worth posting and the time it will take to do an image verification
  27. #27
The posting restrictions have been updated to be as follows:

    - 5 posts a day for first 15 posts
    - CAPTCHA for first 3 posts only
    - Smilies allowed for all users, but no links or images in posts for the first 10 posts.

I'm also going to reword the Qualified Members club to make it clearer about what we expect from members before we allow them into the group, and I'll bump that thread when I've done it.

Genial idea. Bufu is just being regally modest at the moment, but I'm sure he'll do the right thing and prepare his coronation speech.

I was wondering or thinking if there was a chance to maybe start a league here for our forum to play in ? Say to the sort of buy-in and freerolls put together . Total points some how to be added up at the end to find a player or teams trophy of some sort ?

BooG doesn't seem so happy about it though!

We've got a new "welcome thread" for new members, the link to which will be included in new registration PMs. It answers most basic questions about the forum, including posting restrictions:

I would like a way to easily isolate posts of a particular poster(s) easily and quickly in a particular thread. We already have most of this functionallity, but i want something more like this

mafiascum.net • View topic - League of Legends

If you scroll to the bottom, there is a "Display posts by user" option. The 'plus' sign next it allows multiple people to be added as well. Then it brings you to a page of all posts by that person(s) in that thread.

    It would be helpful for
-Isolating 'good' player posts in a specific thread
-Finding all the pictures that make you lol made by a particular poster like bigred
-Excluding all posts made by wufwuggy (jk, <3 u)

Also it has a lot of Werewolf functionality...but i totally dont want it for that reason. Nope. totally.

You should left align them. They look kind of goofy and out of place with that slight nudge to the right they have right now.

    New forum feature!

Noticed the little button in the bottom right of the screen?

This button will toggle on and off avatars and signatures with just one click making FTR completely safe for work! (as long as you avoid the NSFW threads )

One thing i noticed when i tried this out is that the administrator, moderator and qualified images disappear as well as avatars and sigs. Wouldn't it be better to keep those images as there are no NSFW concerns about them and they are informative.

I looked for this for a while before I realized it only exists on fixed width.

You guys should give it a pointing mouse cursor when hovering over it and have it give some indication that it actually worked when the user clicks on it. And add a tooltip to it so people know what it actually does.

As it stands, if someone doesn't read this thread, it just looks like an image that they would never think to click on, nor have any idea what it's meant to do.

Yeah, I completely agree I suck at editing transparent images so it might not be til Monday but there will be a change when you click on it soon and I'll see if we can change the pointer into a hand when you mouse over it!

When viewing an image in your new lightbox feature the primary nav still shows up over top of it.
