I get multiple reports in the BC occasionally. Really not a big deal with regards to me deleting the spam. But certainly if something can be done so people don't waste time reporting something that has already been reported I'd support that.

yeah, so make it so that dupes are silenced, or like the reporter gets informed that it's already been reported so relax, or something. no changing icons because of trollers like the above.

fairly simple to remedy . if the icon is replaced with text " this post was reported by Kiwimark".then when the mods get to review it . if the report was found to be malicious just amend the text to "this post was maliciously reported by a complete tosser called kiwiMark". Obviously changing the name in the message to the username. Only malisious reporters would therefore be called complete tossers.Maybe also give them the dishonourable tagline "tosser" under their name. |

The reports go out to all the mods of the section and to me - I've not been online much this week but normally between us we can get the spam banned within 30 minutes from what I've seen recently.

so if you're saying that there's no point in the mods spending time deleting the spam whats the point in us reporting it in the first place? |

Point I was trying to make was - while obviously I appreciate the reports - I'd rather no spam was posted and therefore the mods didn't have to delete any. Rather than spending time to improve reporting, which is only needed at the moment because so much spam is getting through, I'd rather just no spam got through

I don't think so. How much legitimate traffic are we getting compared to spam. Any legitimate first post can wait 30 mins if it means a clean forum without spam. Besides, it may make them take the time to read some stickies and use the search function for answers. We get maybe 1 or two legitimate new posters a week on a great week, compared to how much new spam posts a day?

You don't want to make users wait 30 minutes before they can participate. Web users are all about everything being instant. 30 mins doesn't sound like a big deal, but you're talking about a medium where large companies spend tons of money just trying to figure out how to get a user through something like a checkout process in 3 clicks instead of 4. A user will sign up, get the 30 min wait period, be doing something else in 5 seconds, and have completely forgotten about FTR in 20 seconds.

I'm going to start using the term 'complete tosser' in everyday life now. I might even use the term 'kiwimark' in place of it.

Are there spam filters to catch the abundance of spam that has been happening lately? They seem easily distinguishable. Blocking posts from low postcount people that have russian/etc letters and posts that have a title inside a thread would already get rid of 90%.

I'm not sure if this is the thread to mention this or not.. but I'm not getting my subscription notifications anymore. And the email I do get from FTR is going to an old email addy that I rarely check anymore.

I imagine they're signing up with the plan to put their site URLs in the website field, not realising it won't show up

This may seem like nothing but it matters to some of us. In the WW forum, when you click on the total posts in a particular thread a window pops up and you can see who posted in the thread and how many times. We used to be able to click on that person and all their posts in the thread would come up and you could read through all the players posts. Now it brings up all their posts in the whole forum, not just that thread. Is this fixable?

The "new posts" link on the top left no longer seems to work in fiirefox, works still in chrome but has always taken two clicks to update. I get no results at all in FF, it seems to have the same search number everytime
