Eric and I have been talking to Xianti about it for a while, he's in charge of designs so we'll see what he thinks.

I like it. It's easy on the eyes.

I would be easy to make it look cooler at a glance, it would be hard to actually make it better.

I kinda feel what swiggidy feels. Something "cooler" and more hip would be cool at first... as a novelty, but it may look dated and annoying after some time... which would mean another re-design when flavor trends change. I personally think the current look has a timeless feel to it, as it harkens back to the origins of poker.

    But who knows... ?

Xianti makes good points. We'll stick w/ this classic style for a while... anyway, we went through a redesign a few years ago, and if you saw the site before, NO ONE would be complaining about our layout and design today!!!

We have some changes coming! We've all been working on it everyday... you'll be inclined to not just jump into the forums - you'll WANT to check out the homepage to see what's going on at FTR!

    New design looks pretty cool/organized.

anyway on the front page (i love the fact that you can see who wrote the last post in each thread btw) you could also be able to jump pg. alongside multipage threads or is that just really tough?

Note: I know very little about web design.

Programmatically, it'd be a challenge, but the main issue is that there's very little real estate on the homepage.

Hmm... we might be able to have the link go to the last page / last post of the topic, rather than the first page/post.

I'm on the fence about the blue...not sure it goes with the tans and browns. I definitely like the less cluttered view of the links on the right, and the front page is an improvement too.

Decided to go with non-underlined text for links now. The bright blue color was chosen for all navigation and link texts, specfically to stand out from all the other colors on the page, so you can see where the links are, without the need for underlined text.

The old link colors kind of faded in to the page design, so we had some issues with people not knowing certain things were links.

more specifically, the type reversed out of the blue headers against the dark background is a bit jarring. the blue type on the light tan background I don't mind as much. yeah, I think the colours can be fine tuned.

Can't distinguish it from black on some monitors. And in body text, you'd never notice it among the black text.

Wouldn't a red do the same things that you're wanting the blue to do while still matching with the tans to some extent?

This blue may not be appealing to the designers out there, but it's a compromise between good design and usability/conversions. For a commercial site, some design sensibilities must take a backseat to clarity and conversions.

We're already using red to highlight text all over our site. And shades of red are too similar to the burnt sienna color of the top nav.

I changed the heading boxes in the left nav to a matching dark brown while keeping the nav text blue. I'd still like to keep the text as blue. I think this looks better. What do you think?

Also, I may change around the forum colors in the next few days. This dark blue looks strange with the new graphics in place. It might just be that we're not adjusted to this new look yet, though.

just wanted to say i poked around a bit, and think you guys have done a great job with the re-vamp.

sweet look, and a lot of easy to find things on front/home page.

    ...and i'm usually pretty critical.

I think the forum colors should be tweaked a bit, I agree that the dark blue doesn't really look right.

blue looks fine everyone except the top. Those six boxes are fugly.

Theyre also almost entirely useless to FTR'rs.
